My 3 year old always wakes up and walks across the hall to our room and wakes us up. Today DH heard something downstairs so went down and LO was just in the living room playing with her toys...I was actually pretty surprised, she's never done that before!
Does your LO ever wake up and just play? Without waking you?

No he's in a crib still.
My friends kids (5.5 and almost 4) always do. They go downstairs and turn he tv on or watch the iPad for a while!!

Yes, but only rarely at 3.5. She prefers to wake us up. Maybe I should start leaving the iPad in the living room to see if she will play with that first!

Yeah usually after a nap for about 5 minutes I hear her talking to herself and stuff in the room...lol
She starts calling for "Lydia" her sitter when she wants out...lol

She has started singing and playing with her stuffed animals when she wakes up- like she will do it for half an hour before we go get her! It's really cute and nice so we can rest a little longer!

DD1 is almost 3, and I'll open her door in the early morning (I'm always up to pee). She'll run out and go to her play area in the mornings on her own. She'll play quietly with her books and toys for about an hour. It's glorious!

Yes - he's in a cot but I put some books in and he will sit and read / play with his stuffed animals until his clock turns yellow.

Yes, she plays in her room for about 20 minutes before calling out for us. She's not quiet about it so we don't get extra sleep, but its cute to hear her singing and chattering to her toys.

Sometimes my 3.5 year old will play by herself until her clock turns green. When she was still in her crib I would leave a pile of books by her crib and when she woke up (around ages 1.5-2.5) she would just reach thru the bars and grab the books and play by herself for at least an hour. It was wonderful because DH and I got to sleep in til 8am many mornings.

Yes we just switched her to a bed and she has been waking in the morning and playing with her toys quietly before calling us when she decides she wants breakfast. It's great!

Usually when she wakes up she immediately wakes me up-- if I'm not in the room she'll call for me and then come out into the living room.

Always. She doesn't have the option to come wake us up, so she's adapted, I guess!

Yep! We cosleep and before I would always wake up earlier but since pregnancy, I've been sleeping in. She will wake up, pee, then go into the living room and quietly play with her toys / iPad for about 20-30 minutes. Sometimes if she's hungry, she will even pour herself a bowl of cereal or get a yogurt out of the fridge.
She's almost 4. Life is SO easy with her. I'm terrified of doing everything again w #2 :(((

Once in a blue moon. It's my fear she'll get out of the house while I'm still sleeping, so I put the baby gate up in the hall so she can freely move around upstairs but not wander around downstairs and help herself to food. Se can move through her room, ours, the spare room (where her cardboard house is) and the bathroom without having to pass the gate.

Always! We keep the gate at the top of the stairs closed at night (all our bedrooms are on the same floor) so when DD1 (3.5 yrs) wakes up, she plays in her room quietly until I get moving and have had my shower. She will come in and tell me when her tot clock has turned yellow (wake up time) but will go back to playing until I'm up.
DD2 (23 months) is still in a cot but she usually plays in her cot for an hour or so after she wakes up before dye starts fussing and calling out got me. I love it.
