Yes. My dentist told me that gaps between baby teeth are probably good news, in addition to being cute. They suggest that there will be room when the adult teeth grow in!

Yes but it seems to have gotten smaller. I think the other teeth pushed them together a bit.

@honeybear: I've heard the same thing.....hence why I not worried about DD's adorable, noticeable gap between her two front teeth!

Yes she does. My sister had the same gap in childhood, it eventually closed on its own.

my LO has a gap on the top row and a gap on the bottom row too. I was worried about it but I learnt gaps are a good thing at her age (12 months)

@cranberryapple: I was but he was also tongue tied, when that was fixed the doctor said not to worry about the upper lip. And my SO's aunt is a dental hygienst and she said not to worry, he may outgrow it. I had an upper lip tie too though and had a huge gap and needed braces. Lol.

Yes. DH has a pretty big gap too and I know it's genetic.

@cranberryapple: My LO has a lip tie as well and I asked an ENT and a pediatric dentist about it because I was concerned about tooth spacing. They both said that it's impossible to know as a baby whether a lip tie will cause issues, and they would never recommend clipping it for dental reasons at such a young age. If it does become an issue later on, they would do it then. Made me feel a bit better!

Yup! Wagon Jr. had one too and it closed up once all his other teeth came in. His teeth are pretty straight right now. But LMW's lip tie is a lot more severe than WJ's was so who knows what her teeth will end up looking like!!

@cranberryapple: agree with others-- spoken with dentists about it and they can clip it at any time. Plus these babies will lose those teeth in elementary school and who knows what the adult teeth will grow in looking like. I've been advised not to clip any lip or tongue ties (both my kids have both!) unless they cause feeding or speech issues. So far so good.

He has an upper lip tie, like me & DH, but we've both had straight adult teeth. Our pediatrician wasn't concerned about DS. -
DD does but that is likely because of an upper lip tie we didn't get corrected.
DS doesn't have his top teeth yet but his upper lip tie was corrected so I'm curious to see if he still ends up with a gap.
