LO is almost three and she insists on sleeping with so many stuffed animals that there is barely any room for her at all. If I try to take a few out she becomes hysterical. Is this bad for her sleep? I want to chose my battles, so if it's not hurting anything I will leave it alone, but I wondered if it has any consequences for her sleep habits. She's a decent sleeper, never gets up in the MOTN, but has been having trouble falling asleep lately.

@TiredmommaMD: ha! this is my DD - its so funny! On the right she has a few baby dolls, some stuffed friends, my little ponies, and barbies - then on the left she has a small hello kitty pillow and more "friends"

Nope! He never took to a lovey and at 2, he's just now tolerating a blanket at bedtime! The lack of stuffed animals on the bed works out great for us since we co-sleep and there's barely any room for us as is! lol however, I do wish he had a lovey so he learned to self soothe.

My LO (she's 3) always sleeps with a TON of stuffed animals/dolls! She has her ride-or-die sleep *crew,* and then adds to her crew with various requested animals . . . and she is very specific about which friends she wants. Sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night asking for a stuffed animal/doll that isn't in bed with her (how she knows/remembers every.single.animal . . . ?!) I think she is comforted by feeling surrounded and by being able to reach out and touch something familiar to her.

My LO is almost 2 and currently has about 10 "babies" in her bed. I see this getting much worse with time, but I don't think it's a bad thing or will introduce poor sleep habits.

DD is 2+ and has 5 items that have to be in bed with her or its a full metldown (2 "babies", 2 disney toddler plush dolls and a stuffed lamb). She also prefers to have 3-5 books in her crib with her. I'll be interested to see what makes the transition to toddler bed with her...or if the freedom to get them in the MOTN changes things.
DD will literally fall asleep on top of books and it doesnt seem to bother her...so I am fine with it. She also has more than once been caught sitting in the MOTN "reading" a book...which I am also fine with since she lays down and goes back to sleep afterwards!

LO is almost 21 months and has about 8 stuffed animals in bed with him. I think it comforts him to have them there.

I don't see any harm it in, my 2.5 year old DS has a ton (especially considering he has a queen size bed). The only issue is sometimes its hard to figure out where he is in bed under "the pile" he creates.

My LO 1's bed is against a wall and she lines up several animals so they can watch her sleep. Lol. There are usually 3-7 animals against the wall. It doesn't affect her sleep.

@TiredmommaMD: haha my daughter went through that stage too around that age! I always teased her, "where are you going to sleep??". And she'll just giggle.
Eventually it got to the point where I limited her to three, if she wanted a different one then one had to go up in her toy hammock. -
@Mrs D: my LO wants all the books in her crib too. We haven't caught her MOTN, but definitely before she goes to sleep and when she wakes up.

Insists? I dunno. He's pretty fickle about it, I think, but I've also never tried to take any of them out! There are a select few I know he "NEEDS", but otherwise, I think they're just there and he tolerates them.

YES! I counted last night and he has 12 stuffed animals with him every night. I think I could probably remove a few, but there are at least 5-6 that he HAS to have in there.

Last night in bed it was 5 dolls, 4 stuffed animals,'3 blankets, 4 books, a family photo, a backpack, water bottle, nightlight, and the stool she uses to climb into bed

For us it's blankets. I try to limit it to 4! But he's recently become attached to these felt bendable flowers...so they have to sleep with him. He could care less about his stuffed animals.

There is a huge assortment of rotating toys in the crib posse. Last night, she had two dolls, Lambie, two stuffed monkeys, a kitty cat, a squirrel, her Wub, and a blanket.
