My OB said since I've had normal Paps for a long time, that I could skip this year (I was pregnant until July)... I'm due for my next pap/check up in Feb.

Nope. I think they said I could get one every 3 years at this point.

No, she said the new recommendation is every three years for a pap. As long as no new issues come up. But they still want you to come in for a yearly exam.

Nope, every 3 years. I was really disappointed when they reminded me that this year was my year.

I think they switched to PAPs every three years, but she still recommends annual checkup/pelvic exam, and I'm good with that!

I don't know if they require it, but they did say they'd see me in March for my Pap when I saw them last week for my postpartum appointment. I like to go yearly because of family history.

No - they go with the new guidelines of every 3 years - I do get a pelvic exam though every year

Midwife says as long as there is no history of abnormal paps, that every 2-3 years is fine. She does suggest an annual pelvic exam though.

They only do a Pap smear every 3 years but require a yearly pelvic exam. I'd rather they did the pap every year too, since they are already all up in there, it's only an extra few seconds to take the pap thing.

I haven't been back for a regular check up since my last pp visit lol! I haven't heard anything about not need a pap every year.

I'm not sure with my new OB - I saw them one time before I got knocked up. But I have a history of abnormal paps and had a LEEP to have pre-cancerous lesions removed, so they'll probably still do annual Paps with me.

they don't require it, I believe PAP at my age is every 3 years, but she still wants to see me every year because I'm prone to ovarian cysts.

@yoursilverlining: There's no reason to do it that frequently, however. It actually increases the risk of harms from paps that were abnormal but that your body was going to clear anyway without intervention. Plus it costs the health care system more money without adding more value (i.e., doesn't save any more lives).
Note that the new guidelines are age dependent and dependent on your past history. For some, they are only every 5 years, and for some you might need one every 6 months.

Every 3 years! Thank goodness. I hate them so much.
ETA: Oops, I didn't realize this was in postpartum - I haven't had a baby yet. But didn't think it mattered anyway

I'm in the 5-year category but they said they'll leave it up to me whether I want to do them more often (just not less). I hate PAPs but will likely get one more like every 3 years...5 just seems so long after having been conditioned to get one every year for the past decade+.

I get one yearly and I'm fine with it. I actually really enjoy seeing my OB/Gyn. He's fascinating and we always have interesting discussions.

They still do yearly, but I'll probably cancel my next appt (in January). I've never had an abnormal one and I'm hoping to be pregnant again in another year or so. Plus, I get really bad anxiety when I have them.

Every 3 years. I almost worry if that's too much spacing since you just never know.

When my doctor told me that paps are now every 3 years I was shocked. That was two years ago I think. I get one every year and will continue to do so, paying out of pocket because OHIP only covers then every 3 years if you are healthy and have had normal ones. The doctor did say she felt it was a step backwards in women's health and cancer diagnosis/prevention and I agree. My family and I have had abnormal paps in our life so I would be uncomfortable waiting that long. However, even if I had never had an abnormal one I would still ask for one every year. They take two seconds and my health is worth a lot I feel.
Cancer can spread very quickly and if you waited that long because you weren't having symptoms it could be disastrous.
