What's the going rate of a dog Walker in your neighborhood?
And if you wouldn't mind sharing what area are you in and how did you find your dog Walker?
Thanks!

$16 for 30 minute visit with walk. She lives in our neighborhood and her license plate said she was a pet sitter so I googled her.

@Mae: so I'm assuming she plays with her for 30 then walk time is on top of that?
Holy shnikees! I was not expecting $16!

@locavore_mama: No, it is a 30 minute visit and she'll do whatever you want. Play inside or walk outside or combo. I actually have never hired a pet sitter (she sits too, not just dog walks) just to walk my dog, but I use them regularly when we are out of town and then I pay for 2-3 visits/day depending on when we leave, if we left the dog at home or just the cats, etc.
Is $16 more or less than you expected? The other pet sitter we use charges $18 for a 30 minute visit, although they travel farther because they don't live in the community.

$15/15 minutes and $20/30 minutes. I live northwest of Boston. I googled dog walkers and my city and found someone but they didn't cover my neighborhood and they referred me.

@Mae: wayyyy more. I was throwing around the idea of temporarily hiring a Walker for my ILs two collies until MIL is recuperated. They are misbehaving even more than usual and it's making life even harder on FIL.
But we can't afford that!

@locavore_mama: Maybe a responsible neighbor kid? Honestly if I JUST wanted a dog walker (vs someone to have total responsibility for my pets while I"m out of town) I probably wouldn't look at pet sitters who dog walk. I'd ask around the neighborhood and see who is looking to make some extra money, there are always kids around here who want to do yard work or whatever for cash.

@Mae: they are two full sized collies ; 80lbs +! So that's a factor too....
Haha damn I'm going to put up signs around my neighborhood and offer services as a dog Walker!

I don't live in a high col area so this might not help but we pay around $35 for up to 12 hours a day at doggy daycare, $17 for a half day. My dog is very high energy and it is a lifesaver. We send him twice a week when the weather is bad and it is enough to keep him much calmer and happier at home. He is much, much better behaved when we make sure to take him.
So I guess my point is, try checking out a few other options because it might be more cost effective, with two dogs it might not but it's worth a look. Good luck!

I got paid $20 per hour for walking dogs. So $10 for every 30 min walk. Not sure how much the clients actually paid since I was employed by a company.

I pay 20/walk for 5 days a week of walking. With two dogs I got a 20 percent discount. She's out for at least an hour of walking, and is actually gone from the house 3 or 4 hours at a time. I live in Calgary, Alberta. My walker came by a recommendation from a friend - he's very good. We had two different services before this, which were worse, and they cost the same.
