I am starting to think about Christmas. The only idea I have for LO is a dollhouse. She will be almost 3. Any recommendations so I can start looking for sales?

We don't currently have one, but we were at my parents on vacation, and friends of theirs brought over their big Fisher Price dollhouse for LO to play with, and she loved it! (similar to this one http://www.fisher-price.com/en_US/brands/lovingfamily/products/Loving-Family-Dollhouse). Accessories aren't cheap though. My LO also likes her Calico Critters sets, but doesn't have a big house.

We got LO the Plan Toys Chalet dollhouse. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008JCI012/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile
I actually like that it has 2 sections, because it's easier for 2 kids to play with it. I initially wanted the Hape All Seasons dollhouse, but we found this on Gilt furnished for around $125 and we couldn't pass it up! We've had it for about 2 years and it has held up well so far (and LO likes to sit on it sometimes!).

I bought the Hape All Season furnished one for a 3 year old's birthday and it was a big hit. I also think the Plan Toys one is really cute.

I have a gigantic doll house that my kid loves because it fits all the barbie type disney princesses. BUUUUUT we also have the Diggin dollhouse box set that I keep in the car for when we go out to keep her occupied at restaurants and everywhere else where I know it may take a while. Everything fits back into the house and it comes furnished too. It's well made and really cute. Plus it won't take up a ton of square footage.

But if you want a larger sized one, i would recommend the Kidkraft ones. They're large and tall and would be well used for a few years.

I don't know if you can find them in the U.S., but I recently saw the Djeco Cubic Dollhouse and thought it was so cool! It has a small footprint and modern design. If either of my LOs is interested in a dollhouse, that's the one I will buy.

She really likes it a lot- the only issue I have with it is the corner of the bedroom sticks out a lot, DD has bumped her head on it. I put a wax ear plug on the corner and problem solved. The price point was right for us, and I like that it's all wood and will last forever.

@Smurfette: We have this one. It went on sale around the holidays down to $99... and comes with so much furniture. The thing is huge, and both kids love it. They play side by side, and when friends come over they play with it too. Enough room for several kids to play with at once!
