It really irks me when strangers or even friends hold/touch my LO's hands. Unless I see them wash their hands, I REALLY don't like it.
We went out for brunch this AM and one of the girls who cleans tables came up to our table and before I knew it, she grabbed my LO's hand! I was shocked and before I could say anything, she let go and was off to clean more tables.
I was so annoyed. Do you let strangers touch your baby? Have strangers ever tried to touch your LO? What did you do if they did?

I'm already a germ-o-phob, but this is a huge fear of mine, especially during flu season! I wish people would be more inconsiderate before just grabbing someone else's baby!

If its a newborn (3months or younger) then I would be more sensitive to her being touched, but if she is over 4 months I wouldnt mind if friends touched her. Definitely dont want strangers touching my baby at any age.

I hated that! You know what really helped us avoid unwanted touching? (and I apologize for not knowing the age of your baby) Babywearing. Having our daughter in the Ergo or Loveyduds prevented others from invading my personal space to get to her. My friends really noticed a difference in how much my daughter was touched as compared to their children. It was because other adults were so much less likely to invade my space. Lala only got 2 minor colds in her first year and I think this was a huge part of it!

I bring Maddy to work with me and a client came in with her daughter (both heavy smokers, outspoken, and just plain rude people) and said "would you just hold that baby now" and reached over my desk and snatched her out of my arms. I was not a happy Mama. I think they sensed it, but in that setting I'm not sure it'd be appropriate to get mad. I'm a germs phobe too.

I'll be carrying wipes around for that purpose alone. You touch my baby and I don't care, I'm going to wipe their hands in front of you. You're dirty, especially if I don't know you, and I do not want you touching my kid until he's old enough to not stick his hands in his mouth five seconds later.

I don't know what is wrong with people! People always touch and I'm just in shock so I usually don't have the words to say anything. I just wiper her hands off after.
The other day she was in her stroller with the cover on it because she was sleeping, and a stranger came up and opened the cover. Ummm.... she's sleeping, and I want her to stay that way! Besides, who thinks it's ok to open a strangers stroller?

@Mrsbells: I usually don't mind if friends hold her hands, but sometimes they come over and immediately grab for her without washing their hands.. They just drove over so they've touched their keys, doorknobs, steering wheel. I know I'm crazy. 
@Mrs. Jacks: my LO's 9.5 months old. Yep. I've noticed that people don't touch her when we're carrying her too. Although, she still gets many feet touches. @StbHisMrs: ugh. I've had my LO taken from my arms too! What kills me is my LO is at the age where she likes fish hooking people's mouths. I carry wipes and wipe her hands, but still.

I haven't had people do that but I HATE it when strangers (but mostly my friends) try to wake LO up when she's sleeping in her stroller! They always say things like, "Wake up and play with Auntie ______!" I seriously have to hold myself back from flipping out.

@artbee: wow. seriously?! total invasion of personal space. @CameronsMomma: I carry around babyganics individually wrapped wipes! They're great. I use them to clean tables at restaurants too

@Rubies: Dood. I would totally flip out. I haven't had anyone try to wake my LO up. I have had people in her face immediately after she wakes though.

This is my biggest pet peeve -- it drives me crazy! The worst offender I've ever had the displeasure od dealing with happened while I was changing DS1's diaper.
He was about six months old and I was changing a poopy diaper in the Target restroom. Another shopper flushed the toliet, came out of the stall, and put her hands on DS1's face!! I could see her hands were dirty, but so were mine, so I couldn't move them away. I was so stunned I think I just stammered "I'm changing him...". I cannot believe how rude and disgusting it was! She never washed her hands either...
Oh, another gem. I was sitting in the waiting room at my doctor's office while both boys were in the stroller. DS2 was getting fussy as an elderly woman was walking past. She coughed into her hands, then started talking to DS2, and reached in to put his paci in his mouth. I, luckily, grabbed it from her and told her 'thank you.'. Her younger daughter apparently thought I was rude, and told me that she didn't touch his mouth,but I don't care! She was clearly sick, and definitely old enough to know better.

@Rubies: WOw people try to wake your baby up? thats just too much because they dont know what sleep patterns you have, or how hard you may have tried to get the baby to sleep. I would never wake up someone else's sleeping baby

@Rubies: I don't know how you hold yourself back. Naps aren't so easy for us, I would be screaming at anybody who purposely wakes up my lo.
@chopsuey119: people learn quickly not to stick their head in my lo's face. She has major stranger anxiety, she screams at them.

I had a stranger paw Baby Y when he was tiny tiny, like 2 or 3 weeks. I was annoyed, but tried not to freak since it was July.

I HATE it when people touch my LO... so we have a travel size hand sanitizer dangling off of our stroller so its visible for people to see. Any time I see anyone comes near us I offer the sanitizer lol...
However, sometimes they are just too quick- so I would wipe LO's hands... sometimes they touch his head! I hate that too... I just don't know why people do that... don't they know that they are dirty and this is a baby with limited immune system?

@Rubies: I cover the carseat using a receiving blanket when Eli is napping and when people come over- I just say he's sleeping... it's been working lol
