I searched the boards and couldn't find a post on this, I thought I'd seen one though.
I just watched this (coming in 6 days late!) and it's amazing to see the difference in the drawings. I know I'm super critical of myself and it's led to some arguments between my hubby and I.

Eh, I think it's nice and all, and does demonstrate a truth, but I take it with a grain of salt. I don't believe Dove is the saint of a company people make them out to be because of these campaigns.
My BIL worked for the Dove "Real Beauty" campaign before and was not happy with what he witnessed. Lots of talk about choosing models who were "just the right level of ugly".

Don't be fooled, Dove is not really out to revolutionize the way we perceive beauty, they are just trying to sell you their products.

@pui: I read that as well and agree. The video wasn't super inspiring or heart touching to me. I felt it put way too much emphasis on what our society today "deems" beautiful. In addition, as the article says, what about just being a strong and confident woman? Is that not enough?

I just liked the video, I know I can be hard on myself. I don't buy Dove products, ever.

@pui: I read that critique and loved it. We're so blinded by this beautiful advertisement that we don't even question certain aspects of it.
@.twist.: I agree! There are lots of people who look like the "ugly picture"...they're not beautiful?
