My husband and I are due on September 22. Every year for Thanksgiving we meet his family in NYC. It's some of the most fun we have all year, and are hoping to still make the trip. We are thinking of driving the 12 hours in 2 days instead of flying. Baby girl will be around 2 months old (hopefully a little more!) by then. What would you do?

We drove 3.5 hours a few times when Lo was that age.. Misery!!!!!!

We are flying to the in-laws when M is 2.5 months old. They live 12 hours away and there is noooo waaaay we would want to do that drive with her at this young of age!!

Id be too worried about the germs in an airplane when my lo is that teeny tiny. We kept her out of public places until she had her 3 month shots, so id rather deal with driving.

We drove 6 hours to NYC when our LO was 2 months. Not a big deal! She did really well
I might wait till s/he is here before you make the decision. See if they like the car. -
We're going to have the same dilemma next Spring.
In May, just under two months after this Sesame is due, we'll be moving from Florida to Michigan.
We can't change the dates, it is set in stone, so I'm starting to think of the best way to handle that 20+ hour drive with a two month old...

i say fly! 12 hours is a long time.

We took a 1500 mile road trip when he was 7 to 8 weeks (9 day trip). It was fun!
I don't know if it would be better to drive or fly since we haven't flown with LO yet, but it was fine driving.Just... you have to stop for 30 minutes every time LO wants... sometimes that was 1hr 15 mins, 2 hrs 30min and once 3 hours. Remember to make yourself pee every stop or you'll never arrive!

Thanks for all of the great input! There's so many things to consider with each one! I think you are probably right @regberdaisy - it depends on how the LO likes the car
