This winter is being rough on my skin. My skin is so itchy and dry. I usually put coconut oil on at night when I get out of the shower and that's it. Any product recommendations that will help keep from wanting to rip through my skin?

mr. bird had to use sarna lotion, it didn't smell very good, but it was the only thing that seemed to help. hope you find something that works for you soon!

I don't find coconut oil very moisturizing (my dermatologist actually doesn't recommend it at all). I've had a lot better luck with Cetaphil creem being soothing and moisturizing and taking away the itch of winter

My hands are so dry this year! I'm going to try some Vaseline tonight.

@blackbird: I think I'm with your derma on this! It's like it doesn't even do anything. I'll try some Cetaphil!

I use Curel, sometimes a mix of Curel and Amlactin. But the Sarna lotion that @mrs. bird: mentioned was also recommended by my IF nurse as a cure for post-injection itching!

I love cerave and vanicream! Discovered it when DD had bad eczema as an infant - but it's meant for adults too. No fragrances and really moisturizing.

For body I use a solid body butter from Lush and I just got one of their massage bars, too. Both are mostly cocoa butter, which for me has more staying power than any lotion.
For hands, I get really bad eczema and no Lush lotion or prescription cream really seems to help. The best thing I've found for that is to get a drugstore lotion (Gold Bond for eczema) and apply it religiously after hand washing.

I have dry itchy scaly legs, and dry skin all over the rest of me. I've been using La Roche-Posay Lipikar Baume AP, and it has helped a lot. Cost me about $30 but its a huge bottle so I feel it is worth it

Ditto CeraVe and Vanicream. If things are really bad, I use Eucerin Original Healing Soothing Repair Creme.

I had pupps rash during pregnancy and Sarna lotion was the only thing that helped. That and an oatmeal bath each night.

Neosporin makes an amazing eczema cream with collidal oatmeal in it--I turn to it when I get that crazy dry skin nothing seems to help. It's pricey, but worth it. You can find it by the first aid ointments, but it is indeed a lotion and comes in a box.

I also use cetaphil, recommended by my dermatologist - the lotion is lighter (I use it on my face) and the cream is great for really dry skin. I also use the gentle cleanser on my face, it's not drying.
