LO always had a random dry spot on his scalp since he was very little (he's 10 months now), but in the last few weeks, the entire top of his scalp has become dry/scaly. It doesn't really look like the cradle cap pictures I've googled, but more just like really bad dry, scaly skin. Any suggestions? He's got a fair deal of hair, so I'm not sure how oil would mix with that, but open to it if it will make him better! (It doesn't seem to bother him, but I can't imagine it's comfortable!)

Do you shampoo everyday?
I have fairly dry skin myself... so for LO I only use shampoo probably twice a week but we have never seen a problem.

Does he have eczema ? My LO does and sometimes has a dry spot in his scalp !

@coacheswife123: Hmm, I actually just googled "exzema on scalp" (real scientific, I know) and it looks like it could be that. What do you do for it?
@raindrop: Thanks. I've only been shampooing 1-2 times a week since I noticed this, but it doesn't seem to be helping:(

@SeptMomma12: it's gross but I grease his head up with vanicream at night ! Usually just the dry spots. His doc actually gave me some hydrocortizone and if I have a really stubborn spot I do that and it usually knocks it out over night !

@coacheswife123: Thanks! I'll try the vanicream tomorrow. The doctor had given me some hydrocortisone when he just had one little spot, but I'm not sure about using it on the whole scalp...

Ah yeah I totally have eczema which is why I try to prevent it with LO but so far no real issues with us. When I was little my parents use to just put hydrocortizone on all the really dry spots.
They also did crazy weird chinese cures... like bath in this black smelly water and drink this dark soup... nothing helped... I eventually grew out of it for the most part. I still have fare ups but they are not as bad as when I was little by a long shot.

@SeptMomma12: yeah try any super moisturizer. We only use the hydrocortizone if its a stubborn spot and its usually just the crown of his head !
