I had my wisdoms teeth removed last Friday and I think I have a dry socket!!! Ugh. I have been lucky enough to not have been in any pain, I only had discomfort from the swelling. Yesterday one side of my mouth was a little tender but today it hurts. I can barely open my mouth. I've only been able to eat a couple
spoonfuls of guacamole I made yesterday. At least it was delicious! Luckily my follow up appointment is in a couple hours. Did anyone else get a dry socket? Any advice?

I remember I was SO mad because I didn't use a straw & am not a smoker. They stuffed my dry socket which hurts a little but it really helps so much!! I am so sorry that stinks!

@Sulli301 thanks. I'm pretty bummed because I have followed all the rules! My husband told me when they put the medicine in his it was instant relief.

I didn't, but they did get infected. Hope they fix you up so you'll feel better!

@Leialou: Yup, your husband is right - they stick this long strand of medicated gauze in the socket and it immediately feels better. I feel your pain though! Hope you feel better soon

@Leialou: Ugh, I had it - terrible! Worst pain ever (well, haven't been through childbirth yet...) I had two and didn't suck or smoke either! They would pack my gums for me every few days or so (felt muuuuch better) and I was on Vicodin for like a week! Advice is to follow doctor's orders - eat only soft foods/liquids. Sorry, hope it gets better soon!

Well it turns out it isn't a dry socket. I was just imagining the worst since everyone warned me about them. My doctor said I'm probably in pain from grinding my teeth at night. I grind my teeth bad, I always have. He told me to use a heating pad and I should be fine. Too bad he couldn't do anything about the neon green bruises on my face!
