My 17 month old's face suddenly has dry patches on her nose and a couple other places. What do you all put on your babies' faces? I lotion her body every night after baths, but I never put anything on her face. Now its dry. What do I do?!

I use Cerave lotion after bath, and Aquaphor for patches (occasionally/as needed). I also run the humidifier at night.

Aquaphor here too. On her face I will rub it between my fingers for a minute to warm it up so it smooths on easier.

@Foodnerd81: @rattles: @pwnstar: Can you please link to what you use? And do you use it every single day? Or just when there is a dry patch?

I use coconut oil. And it's edible so when it gets in squirmy toddler mouths it's not a big deal

@MamaBear87: We did this too and I just found out the other day that it clogs pores!! So, it's great for the body but not so much for the face. Now we only use aquafore on his face!

@MamaBear87: That's interesting. Thank you for the idea. I will look in to that.

@wrkbrk: I've always been leery to put anything on my face and have never put anything on my baby's face. That's why I'm at a loss now with this dryness. I don't live in a cold area and its actually hot this week. So not sure what to do about the dryness.

@agold: I dont routinely put anything on my two year old's face but this winter he has gotten some red, rough patches like you describe and the aquafore has seemed to help!

We use cerave as well. My kids start getting redness and bumps on their faces in the dry winter. https://www.amazon.com/CeraVe-Moisturizing-Lotion-Hyaluronic-Ceramides/dp/B000YJ2SLG/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1517347329&sr=1-4&keywords=cerave+moisturizing+lotion

@wrkbrk: it's a fairly rare occurrence and I've not had an issue. I try to avoid most mainstream toiletries as they only have to adhere to guidelines from 1970 and don't have to tell us everything that's in their product
Plus I'm not sure why if it's pore clogging it would be ok for your body but not face? All your skin has pores

@MamaBear87: Yep, i get what you are saying. I have some and i will look into using it.

@agold: I use this Aquaphor Advanced Therapy Healing Ointment Skin Protectant 7 Ounce Tube https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0107QPFBU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_TUqCAb8HM5EQY
I have both tubes and tubs of it throughout my house. I use it on dry patches on the kids as needed, not every day, and for myself I’ll use it on my lips, under my nose when it gets raw from tissues, on my hands as a thick lotion for super dry skin (only do this when you have time to sit and let it soak in since it’s greasy if you use a lot). We live in New England and it’s cold and very dry.
For after bath lotion cetaphil works better for my eczema prone 2 year old. Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream for Dry/Sensitive Skin, Fragrance Free 16 oz (Pack of 2) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001ET76EE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xXqCAbSM3MQCN

I use cetaphil on my girls, my oldest dd has eczema and it is really effective

We use Vaseline - my kids get really red rough cheeks in the winter from wind and cold.

We have Cerave for when small patches of dry skin/eczema flare up on DS’s face but he complains about it hurting. I think it’s the small amount of alcohol in the lotion. He doesn’t mind Lucas Papaw or coconut oil but neither seem that great for the skin so Aquaphor is next on my list to try.

I love Tubby Todd’s All Over Ointment. I also have Weleda baby face cream but haven’t used it yet but I use their calendula body wash for the kids and am happy with it.

I use Cerave after every bath (to seal moisture in LO's skin)--one for face, and one for body (LO has mild eczema):
For patches, I apply Aquaphor just to the patch:
We also always run humidifiers at night--it really helps!

I use the baby cerave, though I'm guessing it's probably the same as the adult version? I haven't compared. But I also use it on my own hands, which get SO dry in winter, and I really like it. https://www.amazon.com/CeraVe-Essential-Ceramides-Protecting-Maintaining/dp/B00JF3RYPM

Bathing nightly can dry their skin out so it might be worth trying a bath every other night or every few nights instead if the lotion suggestions above don't work.

Aquaphor! It clears up red dry skin so fast, as well as any rashy parts (from food, lip licking, etc. Might try cerave for daytime if I can find one with an spf. Sunscreen dries her out so bad, and I want the double moisture and spf protection, yet toddler safe!

LO has dry skin generally and some eczema patches and I use Welenda's Baby Calendula Face Cream on her face. They have it available on amazon and I've also seen it at Target.
I use Cerave all over on her and also use Dr. Hauschka's Rose Body Oil on her back and spots that are generally drier.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'm not an Aquaphor fan.
Also second the suggestion above of not bathing nightly.

We use aquaphor on DS2’s face and Cerave on his body. He gets eczema when he teethes.

I use whatever is closest to me: Vaseline, Aquaphor (healing ointment), or when it gets itchy, a 1% hydrocortisone ointment that the ped recommended (or else it just gets so much worse).

I like the thick cetaphil mentioned above. I’m surprised by all these aquaphor recommendations. I guess my aversion to its stickiness is just me!
