Do you fret when your kids eat off the floor? I used to be really anal about this, but I gave up. If DS dumps his snack on the floor and then decides to eat it I don't really care anymore. I guess it's one of my pick your battle things! Im only ok with this at home though!

My kids wouldn't have a chance. I have 2 dogs that would beat them to it.

I swear if I scattered her meals all over the floor she would eat so much better than in her chair. I try to discourage it but it happens.

@Lindsay05: Yes! LO does this all the time. She chucks in the floor and I think she's trying to tell me she's finished. Then as I'm trying to clean up, she grabs and eats. Whatever. We used to try to stop her from eating "floor food" but we're over it.

It used to bother me. Now, it's funny. When LO was at his great grandparents' house during a trip, he ate a floor strawberry. All I could do is laugh it off and go about our day.

I'm over it. I've never kept cleaner floors than I do with a toddler, so I don't worry about it if she's eating a raisin she chucked overboard while I wipe off her high chair.

No, I don't mind at all. At home it's just dirt that she's picking up. I figure she's getting plenty of other dirt anyway, what's another couple speckles

Yes, because I have three dogs, including a Golden Retriever who sheds like there's no tomorrow. I keep our hardwood floors ridiculously clean, but there's always a golden tumbleweed floating by...

Doesn't bother me at all at our house surprisingly. I gave up early on with this battle. I swear she dumps food on the floor on purpose to have snacks available.

We don't have pets at our home and we clean our floors regularly, so I don't mind. I figure it helps build up his immune system.

Well, if my son dumps his snack on the floor, I don't let him eat it, not because of germs or anything, but because that's not behaviour I want to reinforce. You dump it on the floor, you lose it, period. My son is three though.

Eh. I just make sure we sweep up at the end of each day so at least she isn't eating moldy, old food off the floor. She's a little vacuum cleaner and its just not a battle I'm willing to fight.
I do wish she'd stop finding dust bunnies to eat, though. Doesn't matter how often I vacuum, she still manages to extract them from under the furniture.

We don't typically let her eat off the floor. NO matter how clean we keep house we have a dog that sheds so the floor is "dirty" even right after I clean it! the part that gets me is when she tries ot get down on her stomach and literally eat OFF the floor like a dog. That I am not OK with! Funny, yes.

I don't care at all. Granted she's 11 months- if she was two and doing it, I'd probably care but from a behavioral standpoint.

There have been plenty of times that DS has eaten floor food if we haven't swept up fast enough. At first I was a super stickler of if it falls on the floor, it goes straight into the trash. I definitely don't want to enforce the behavior. But as someone said above, he's not necessarily done when he starts playing with his food. It's hard to judge.
I did find it super funny that daycare told me this week that some kid ate something off of the floor and DS turned to the teacher with a super serious look, pointed at the kid, and said "Yucky!" For one, the kid is the king of floor food and I've never heard him say that before.

Hahaha once my son accidentally dropped something and he asked me if he could eat it. I was like, "only if I don't see it." So he carefully crouched down while I looked in the other direction.

I don't care, but only if the food has just fallen. 5 second rule. If they beat me to it before I have cleaned it.
