LO is 7 weeks old. He was having green seedy poop 2 days ago so I have been making sure he gets lots of hind milk. Now poop is bright yellow again ( like the top of a medela bottle) but sooooo stringy ? Never seen this before. It's so strange. Looks like he ate a spool of thread. Is this normal ??

It sounds like a stool we often saw during an allergic reaction. The green color would be more concerning, but it seems you linked that to a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance? The yellow color is more normal, but the stringy streaks sound like mucus which can indicate an allergy, intolerance or baby not feeling well. Have you examined the stool for blood? Poke around in there...LO's blood was always specks and not full globs like you would expect to find. I would put a call into the nursing line at you pediatrician's office and maybe call your LO's GI. How long has this been happening? Any fever or other indication that he is not feeling well?

I also heard that stringy like mucusy poop can also be related to overfeeding.
I would see the next couple dipe changes and then give a call in to the pedi.

@anbanan15: he seems to be feeling fine ! No blood in the stool . It has only been happening for 24 hrs and his last dipe had a lot less so maybe it clearing up but calling my ped today anyway !

@coacheswife123: @mrsjyw: I have heard this too, so things could just be regulating from the imbalance. The fact that the color is better is promising. I take some pictures showing the stringiness for your doctor.

Drooling also causes grossly stringy poop . eww
