I'm on the hunt for a good egg free chocolate chip cookie recipe.
I tried one this weekend with my niece and nephews and the taste was good but it was more of a cookie crisp than cookie! Not sure where I went wrong because there were hundreds of positive reviews.
My nephew is severely allergic so I would love to have a tested recipe before they come visit in April!

ETA: I guess it was a different one I looked at that said they baked well, but honestly, I can't tell the difference between this dough and dough with eggs, so I imagine it'd bake just fine.

The best allergen free recipe I have used is on the back of the enjoy life mini chocolate chip package. Seriously delicious I have been taking them to my sons school for treats (valentines day, Christmas) and the adults love them. I haven't tried them with gluten flour but it should work.

@Jess1483: those are pretty much the same proportions of the recipe I used. I think there was just too much butter? Or my mom's oven is defective!

@regberadaisy: Huh. Well, I've made it twice and it's worked out well. I don't use a ton of milk--maybe 2-3 tablespoons? I have some in the fridge--I can make a cookie if you want

@Jess1483: the batter itself is fine. Once I bake it the butter pools/spreads way too fast and there is no rising happening at all! I should try the recipe again this weekend in my oven.

There's a decent pumpkin chocolate chip recipe on allrecipes. They are going to be more cakey though. BTW egg free cake is a lot easier than cookies because you're not looking for chewiness.

@regberadaisy: google vegan chocolate chip cookies. I haven't done egg replacement in cookies, but i've done it in muffins they turn out fine. I usually use chia seeds +water as my egg replacement.

I've done cornstarch and water as egg replacements in cakes, I wonder if they would work for cookies as well?

Love the Enjoy Life recipe! Try substituting egg with 1 tbsp of apple sauce in a regular recipe. One of my favorite cookie recipes uses apple sauce in place of an egg, and it is so yummy!

I make these all the time, they're DH's favorite! You can use a blender to get the nuts very fine.

As @blackbird: said, you can use flax. It's 1 tbl ground flax, + 3tbl water for every egg you want to replace.
Eta: you want to let this mixture sit in the fridge for a bit, so prepare it st the beginning, then start doing everything else. -
Was your butter too soft? That can be a culprit of spreading cookies!

I didn't have an egg so I googled what to replace it with. Google suggested a banana! So I made regular choc chip cookies (recipe on back of chocolate chip bag) and used a banana instead of an egg. They were yummy!
