Have you seen this one yet? It's Disney's newest princess show - it's cute! There's only been one or two episodes so far, so I'm not sure how I feel about it yet but seems good so far.
I've read that Elena is around 15 or 16, and will not have any sort of love interest in the show which I like. The first episode was about sisterly love, which hammered in some points nicely 
(I have two girls!)

Oh exciting!! I can't watch another episode of Sofia or I will definitely rip my eyes out hahaha. It will be nice to have another princess show for my girly girl.

It's ok - LO really likes it. She especially likes that Elena's grandmother calls her miya - just like LO's grandmother calls her (and me!).

E LOVES it, I thought because she was older she wouldn't like it as much, but I think that's why she likes it more than Sofia.

Haven't watched it since the show is on when we don't turn on the TV... But they play the songs non-stop! And apparently Princess Sofia freed her from her amulet or something?!

Dd has seen it and seems to like it, but I haven't really paid attention to it (tsk tsk) and just let her watch it because it was on Disney Jr.

@sorrycharlie: I ended up googling and learning all these useless facts about Sofia hahaha. I was like, why did she turn into a princess randomly? Who's the other kids' mom? What's with the magic amulet?? Haha!

Is there anything scary in Elena of (wherever the heck she's from!)? My girls would like the sister aspect, but get scared of witches, trolls, Knights/dragons in Sofia (even when they're friendly).

@PinkElephant: maybe/probably -she's in the amulet becuase of a bad witch (explained briefly in beginning of the first episode, but you could skip that part). In the first episode, Elena has to save her sister from some little animal things that kidnap her (might be scary?!?)
In the 3rd episode there is a "rock monster" who causes lava and stuff when he gets mad. He turns out to be a nice guy (of course lol), but might be scary for your LO's from what you said scares them.

This makes me wish we had cable - I know LO would love this! We watch Sofia on Netflix.
