I once had a friend tell me because I have a "tramp stamp" tattoo on my lower back that I would not be able to get an epidural due to the location. I now know this is false due to 3 friends going through them, but wondered if anyone had heard this rumor? It freaked me out enough I had to ask my doctor just to be sure!

someone told me this too. claimed that the ink would get in my blood stream...morons lol i was able to get an epidural no problem

I heard this when I was a teenager, totally forgot until now!

I never heard that but I did hear if you had a belly button piercing and didn't take it out and let it close up before your belly got big during pregnancy, it would tear a slit from the whole to your belly button. I've since learned it isn't true, but it certainly cured 16 year old me of any desire to get one!

I have one, but I got an epidural. Heck, that tat is so old, 12 yrs, it wouldn't have mattered if it was true.LOL

@Honeybee: I'll have to show you a picture... It's really not a tramp stamp since it covers a much wider area. But yeah, I got it for my birthday in 2005 after I got back from India. I felt like I had just gone through a big rite of passage and I wanted to commemorate!

I heard this, too. My entire back is tattooed (including the requisite tramp stamp) and people told me that. BS...I got the epidural.
