My DH was diagnosed with epilepsy in junior high school. They figure he was having petit mal seizures for years because when they think back about it, he often seemed faraway and didn't know what was being said to him, which frustrated him AND his parents. He had his first grand mal seizure in grade 8.
He's been seizure free now for 8 years, and still takes his medication to prevent it. I have never seen him have one (but I have seen two friends). My best friend woke up to her husband having his first in over a year, which is something I hope never to see, but know the odds are I will at some point if he hasn't grown out of them. (he still gets the headaches sometimes that tell him his body is fighting one off)
So now that we are expecting, he's concerned that the baby will develop it as well. There's so much doctors don't know about Epilepsy and its possible causes, so while some doctors say its unlikely baby will inherit it, others say to watch for it.
