We've only been nursing 1x a day since she turned 7 months old (pumping 4-5x a day on top of that).
I've always had way more success maintaining my milk supply when pumping over nursing (latch issues and whatnot), and she has pretty much lost interest in nursing since we've only been doing it once a day. I've tried offering at other times and she has absolutely no interest. And lately, she's started refusing during that one time in the morning as well. I just can't be rejected like this any more. There's no point. She loves me. She's very affectionate with me. We love being together. But nursing is not how we bond.
I'm thinking of just calling it what it is and being an exclusive pumping mom from now (8 months) until she turns a year old. I'm worried and sad to give up nursing, but she's never loved it, and because of that, neither have I.
I think committing to 8 months of nursing is pretty good, considering. I'm really sad about it, but it was never good, and I've tried to do it long enough.
Did anyone else go to exclusive pumping late in the game? How did it go for you?
