Did anybody buy the infant insert for the ergo baby carrier? or did you just wait until your baby was old enough to fit in the carrier without the insert?
What was your experience with the insert?

@Mrsbells: We waited until our LO was old enough to fit in the ergo.. I've always wondered about the newborn insert. We're probably going to have to buy one when we have baby #2..

We have the insert and it worked pretty well for keeping him wedged in there since he was small and the carrier is big. We didn't use it a whole lot though. He wasn't a carrier type baby.

@Mrsbells: we have the insert and use it all the time. My little guy was 6 weeks early and only 4 lbs 12 oz and we use the insert and carrier to go on walks, go to parties, go shopping, clean up around the house, etc. He will be 10 weeks tomorrow and is only about 8 lbs so the insert was crucial if we wanted to use the ergo.

@BabyBruins: do you find the carrier to be big? We're getting the sport one and wonder about wearing it around the house - do you use it as your only carrier?
Oh and we're planning on getting the insert for it, as well.

We have the insert but we haven't used it very much. It works well and LO fits into it nicely but it's a bit bulky.

@Mrsbells: We used our infant insert a lot!! We didn't get it until LO was about 6 weeks old. We used it one a trip where we did lots of walking & it worked wonderfully. We even use it as a little mat when we had to take LO in & out of it & there wasn't really anywhere soft like a bed to lay her. It's a bit bulky but without it we wouldn't have been able to use the carrier until she was close to 5 months.

@mediagirl: I don't think the carrier is too big. I have only worn him once around the house when he wouldn't calm down but I often wear him to baby classes and sometimes while I'm eating lunch before. We also tried the moby wrap, but didn't like it. Hubs felt he was more secure in the ergo, but that might have been bc he was so small. My in- laws loved the moby for their preemie.
I will say I am considering the baby ktan for when he gets older so he can face out. You can only face in with the ergo unless you wear the baby on your back which is MUCH further down the line.

We had the insert and used it. It's annoying IMO. I have one I'd love to sell since we only used it a handful of times.

We used it and found it great for our winter baby but awful for our summer baby. We usually use Lovey Duds until they are big enough for Ergo.
