I have attended a couple of free information classes and read a little. I want to but haven't yet.

I have a friend who uses these all the time for her son. She buys a mix from her naturopath with lavender, eucalyptus, and a few others to help him sleep.

I have a friend who I get DoTerra oils through at wholesale prices.
We have in our pile: Lavendar, Oregano, Lemon, Peppermint, OnGuard (a cold remedy mix), Maleluca, and another mix for my headaches/migraines.
We need to get a diffuser ASAP. For the most part we've been using them directly via applying to our feet, temples, etc. and also breathing it in from our hands.
I am a light, wakeful sleeper. The first night I used the lavendar on my feet I slept conked out for 10 hours straight!

@mrsjyw: I like the sounds of better sleep. I'm also a light sleeper and have been waking for 2 hours in the middle of the night and struggling to fall back asleep. Really, 4 hours of sleep isn't enough (or at least that's what I keep telling myself).
What do you use the other (non-lavender) oils for?

@MamaG: lemon is an energy booster, wakes you up, maleluca in combo with i belive oregano and lemon is called a "flu bomb" other mixes are also good for treating cuts/skin stuff.
I mostly got into them for the R&R and cold fighting aspects of them!

I like to use them here and there. My mom is really into them, so she buys me a lot of them.
She bought me a headache relief blend (it's like 5 different oil extracts) and amazingly enough it works incredibly well.
She bought a calming child blend as well, and it is supposed to help babies/toddlers sleep well.
I have a few more that I use here and there, especially when I'm sick and they are soothing! They smell really good too.

I used lemon oil when I was in labor, my midwife suggested it when things were stalling. I honestly don't believe it did anything in that situation.
Grapfruit is supposed to be energizing and tea tree is an antiseptic.

@mrsjyw: oooh I like the sound of the more sleep! I wonder if it would work on A too.....

@travelgirl1: I've heard it works for babies. My friend used it on her babygirl in a diffuser in the nursery and she STTN 12 hours for the first time at 8.5 months

I use them in homemade cleaning solutions for their natural cleaning properties and to add fragrance, but I don't put much stock in their healing properties.

I ordered a starter kit for sleep and a disinfectant blend for cleaning. I need to get a diffuser as well!

@TemperanceBrennan: Which do you use for cleaning?
@looch: my spouse uses tea tree oil as a remedy for just about everything. I personally have never tried it. He would have used it on LO, if I would have let him too.

@MamaG: I use tea tree, orange, and lemon the most. I have 6 or 7 I think, but can't remember all of them. I also like eucalyptus lavender.
