Have you ever used them? What did you use them for?
We're thinking of using them for sleep.

Yes! I'm new to using them, but I love them and I use them for everything! I diffuse different oils regularly. right now I'm diffusing a blend at night to help with allergies and sleep since it's winter and we're all cooped up and have animals.
Peppermint is great for upset stomach/nausea.
Lavender is great for sleep!
Lemon is great for cleaning agents.

I was dealing with some insomnia and tried lavender oil on my feet and pillowcase - didn't help at all
Know what knocked me out? Sleepy Time tea!!! I never woke to pee and had crazy dreams all night - I read somewhere that you only dream in REM which meant I was having deep sleep. I woke up and felt amazing!

Yep, but not as as substitute for modern medicine.
I personally use doTerra brand because I get them at wholesale prices from a trusted friend who highly recommended them. I think Young Living is the other top rated brand of high concentrate EO.
Anyway, I use lavender for relaxation/sleep and a doTerra mix called PastTense for headaches (wintergreen, lavender, peppermint, frankincense, cilantro, marjoram, roman chamomile, basil, and rosemary.)
I use another dt mix called OnGuard (Wild Orange, Clove Bud, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary essential oils.) for DS when he's stuffed up and fighting a head cold.
We use them solely on the bottoms of our feet, a dab on our chest, and I use the headache roller on my temples.
I have lemon, oregano, and a few others. Haven't used those yet. They just came in an intro pack that I bought.

@mrsjyw: oh definitely not! We're trying to open our eyes to new options and ways to help our small issues since modern medicine is so expensive these days.

@MrsBrewer: @mrsjyw: do you use lavender for your LOs? How do you use it with a 1 year old to promote relaxation and sleep? I'm pretty desperate and haven't tried essential oils. I'm a little scared to be honest.

@Leah: I don't have a LO yet, but my SIL does! She will dilute the Essential Oil with a carrier oil (either coconut oil, or olive oil) and rub it on the bottoms of her LO's feet, and she will diffuse the oils at night as well. I use Young Living Oils.

@mediagirl: yea I didn't think you were Just was stating our stance on them
@Leah: haven't used it on ds, mostly because I haven't bought a diffuser. My friend uses it for her girls through aromatherapy and she loves it for them. (they love it too).

I use them similarly to @mrsjyw: but I use Young Living! Lavender and Cedarwood are great for sleep for me and DD. For LO, I dilute with coconut oil or lotion and rub on her. I used to have a sleep lotion from bath and body works and I figure that the pure stuff is better!

I am new to using them, I use young living oils. My friends swear by them that they help their LO's sleep. I am trying to get the hang of them before mine arrives in April. The only thing I have really used them for since I got them a couple weeks ago was a mixture for my husbands horrible allergies and both times it helped him instantly.

I've been using them for about 8 months, and I see a great improvement with my girls sleep! I'm constantly diffusing something! My favorite brand is Eden's Garden.
I use lavender and goodnight in the diffuser at night in their room, I also melt some coconut oil with a couple drops of lavender on the bottoms of their feet. They're 3.5 and 18 months.

I kid you not, I sleep awful on nights I don't diffuse them in my room. I can't believe it...I'm totally hooked. I'm not convinced they've helped fend/ward off illness completely (thieves from young living), but I do feel like they help when they have congestion to control the mucus and general yuckiness.
Dd had a double ear infection last week, I'm not brave enough to depend on oils over seeing a doctor.

I've put lavender on burns and cuts. Can't say if t made a difference, but it smelled nice! I use a diffuser too. Mostly to make the house smell nice, but I had a stress relief blend that I loved that I need to get some more of (local brand). I have a book on using essential oils but haven't done as much with them as I'd like. I just get a bit nervous when I'm pregnant.

Hmmmm I thought REM sleep was not deep sleep and you dream most in that lighter sleep?
We just started using lavender essential oil, just one drop on her bath and it smells quite strong but not sure that I noticed any difference. I think I convinced myself that she falls asleep more easily but I can't be sure of that.
