Well not exactly, but my friend asked me (from the hospital) which name I liked better and I said the one, and an hour later she told me they named him the other. I'm glad I wasn't too emphatic. I really don't like the name they chose.

It would have to be waaaaaaay out there for me to say anything, which has never happened. I always smile and say it's lovely.

I have made the mistake of speaking badly about an ex when a friend had just broken up with him. It was awkward when they got back together a month later!

I don't think it's happened. I would only say something vaguely negative of they straight up ask if I like it, if they just said, oh we are thinking of Gertrude, I would would say, oh how nice!

I have two friends whose kids names I really don't like. Obviously haven't ever said anything.

@mrbee: yes, this happened to me exactly!! I feel bad about it and always remember the times I stick my foot in my mouth. But either she is a good pretender, forgives/forgets easily or just loves me because she has never changed her relationship with me. Do you think this person remembers?

Also I don't think people love LOs name but DH and I know it is perfect so it has probably grown on people. I'm glad nobody outright told me they don't like it and can't believe I did that to someone (even if they asked). ----Lol! I specifically said the name was too feminine for a boy.
