Just purchased a home. The interior doors are very outdated and some are tough to open/close so we're hoping to get new ones. I had a guy come out from Lowe's today and measure. We think pre hung doors (with frame) will be best. No clue on if they are standard size, but they range from a thin linen closet to a typical bedroom door. He was very unhelpful when it came to cost. He said someone will call me in a few days to give an estimate but I have no idea what to expect. It's 10 doors. Has anyone done a similar project that could give me insight of cost including the doors and installation?

Our house was built in ‘86 which isn’t “old” but the doors had been painted and they were pretty beat. We replaced them in 2016 with solid wood craftsmen 3 panel doors (one square up top, two rectangles below). We installed, and painted and it was about $135 per door. Now if we had them paint & install it would’ve been $300 per door. That said, it depends on if you get solid wood or not. We chose solid for bedrooms and bathrooms and closets we did the hallow core (I think that’s what they’re called).
The style, and type of door is what is going to run you up in cost.

Over the course of our reno we replaced all our doors with six panel solid core doors. If memory serves they were ~$100 for for standard sizes and ~250 for custom sized doors through Lowe’s (we had some weird sizes since we live in an old farmhouse). We also custom ordered a french door with frosted glass for our laundry room and that was more like $500. We painted and DH and his dad installed them. It’s fiddly to get them trued up but not hard. Although FIL started out as a window and door installer 40 years ago, so we had a little advantage there.

I wanted to replace all doors in my house, too. It was more expensive than I was expecting. We got Reliabilt doors from Lowes. I will be doing them a few at a time over years since its totally not something I want to pay for, even though I want it done. Lowes often runs sales on interior doors. That's what I will be waiting for so be sure you ask about that.

Our doors are a solid wood in a dated color (think 70's laminate). I don't think they're pretty at all, but they're sturdier than anything out there and most likely more expensive. But it'll cost a TON of money and feels like a waste to replace them, and it's a ton of money to have someone come in and repaint them (it was barely even possible before Covid).
But if it's only about being able to open them smoothly, during our last renovation, a guy suggested shaving one of my doors for a smoother opening. Maybe that could be a quick fix option for you - at least for the time being?
