I'm not sure if I've listed this on the correct board, so feel free to move it!
I'm going in for a hysteroscopy to remove a polyp found during my hsg. Can anyone tell me what their experience was with the procedure? How was recovery? Any tips?
I've been looking a bit online, and my doctor won't do a prep meeting until the day before the procedure, so any help is appreciated!

@Crystal: I had this done to remove my uterine septum, and they did a D&C as well (I didn't know they were going to do that).
I found recovery to be really easy...2 days in bed and back to normal, minimal bleeding and no pain at all. I hope that helps 
I will say I woke up STARVING since you have to fast from the night before haha

I Was supposed to have this done, but when they went in during the hysteroscopy, they found that there wasn't actually a polyp. It was incredibly easy and painless, but of course nothing was removed. But I hear one polyp is generally quite easy especially if it's small.
They filled my uterus with saline to expand it, and put a little scope in to look around. None of that hurt, but I did cramp a little afterwards.

I had this done last year before beginning our IVF cycle. I think I had a couple of medium sized polyps. My doctor said they're fairly common but often aren't noticed unless you're doing tests like an HSG or ultrasound for other infertility reasons. I was under general anesthesia for the procedure. I think it was pretty quick (30 min?), and I had a bit of cramping and bleeding afterwards. I didn't need anything stronger than motrin or advil, and I was back at work the next day feeling fine. I think I bled very lightly for about a week.
It was a really easy procedure. The hardest part was needing the anesthesia. I couldn't eat or drink beforehand, so I felt weak, and it made me nauseous afterwards. When I had to have anesthesia again for egg retrieval, they put the anti-nausea meds in my IV, and it was much better!
Oh, and a heating pad on my belly felt great that night! Good luck! You're getting one step closer to a take home baby!!

@Crystal: I had this done in 2013 after 2 m/c. dr thought I had a polyp on the saline ultrasound but turns out I also had a uterine septum, which they couldn't see on the ultrasound.
It was a fair easy recovery, I was in bed for a day or two and had been advised no sex etc until my next period which came about 4-5 weeks later. I had a follow up appointment at 6 weeks and was cleared for TTC. I got pregnant in March 2014 and now have a two month old

@travellingbee: thanks for sharing your experience! Good to know its only mild cramping. You had an HSG, right? Was the pain similar?
@thisisme: I really hope I am closer to my take home baby! He/she sure is taking his/her sweet time to get here! Were you allowed to use tampons for the bleeding or only pads?

@Mrs. Jacks: thank you! By having my GYN cover the surgery, it moves us so much father ahead in our timeline, and he said he'd start me on clomid ASAP. I am feeling the kindling of hopefulness for the first time in a long time.

I had this done this past September, and it really wasn't that bad. I'm sure part of it depends on your tolerance of the anesthesia, but as far as recovery goes, be prepared for mild cramps and maybe light bleeding for a couple of days. You'll probably be put on pelvic rest afterward until your follow up - no tampons and no sex. Good luck!
