Do you have any ideas for "experience" gifts for adults? Anything you've particularly enjoyed giving or receiving? I'm trying to come up with a Christmas gift idea for my brother and sister in law. They live in a tiny condo, just went through some major decluttering projects there, plus are talking about moving abroad for work in the next year so I'm trying to avoid giving "stuff" at this stage. In years past, we've done things like a gift certificate for a baking class or a gift certificate for a cocktail-making class. I'm on the hunt for some fresh ideas though.

Wine tasting tour, either to multiple wineries or a private tour at one? A guided tour of a local attraction? A night at a B&B?

My sister gets DH and I a gift card to our favorite splurge restaurant every year and it’s always one of my favorite gifts. It never fully covers the bill (dining out is expensive) but it still feels nice/special for us. And it’s basically the only (non-target, non-amazon) gift card I actually use. A little boring relative to classes, etc. but something you know they’ll like.
Alternately, DH and I do experience gifts for each other for most things and some highlights over the years have been hang gliding, a rally driving lesson, a guided foraging hike where we foraged mushrooms and ramps and some other things and then made a meal, a behind the scenes experience at the Shedd aquarium (could also work at a zoo). Concert tickets are kind of basic but also a hit if there’s a band they like that’s coming to their city.

But other things we've gifted are gift certificates to hotels.com, that way they can pick anywhere they want to go.

Movie passes, tickets to ballet or symphony, beer or wine or fruit of the month club, museum passes... Is there a streaming service they'd like? Like HBO?

What about some kind of 'of the month' club like wine of the month? One of those iFly skydiving experiences (or real skydiving - how daring are they?) A night in a hotel in a local city?

@caitcat: concert or show tickets, night out for a chef's tasting dinner or something special like that... I've done cooking classes and wine classes - always fun. Or organize a date night out for them, or if you can find a good deal on a hotel or excursion (not sure about your price point) or a couples massage?

@caitcat: I just got my dad an America the Beautiful pass for Christmas! I'm so excited! Free day use for all national Park/national Forest/Corps of engineers sites as well as 50% off camping. They live in the mountains and have a cabin by a lake so it's something they will be able to use weekly. In the past for him I have done college basketball tickets for the entire family, and I was thinking about doing an escape room package for my stepdad but I realized it's $30 per person so the total would be over $150 for my entire family to go, because I have three college-aged siblings. but I think that would be a really fun idea for a smaller family or a bigger family if you want to drop that much money! For my in-laws we did a gift certificate to a resort close to our home that they could either use for dinner or for a spa package or whatever. I think they ended up using it for an anniversary dinner.

We get a state park pass most years as a Christmas gift - it's one of my favorite things to get! We use it at least 2-4 times a week April-October and then a handful of times November- March.
I also second the idea of a streaming service - there are so many now that it could be fun to add a new one.
But other things we've gifted are gift certificates to hotels.com, that way they can pick anywhere they want to go.
