So, apparently there is outrage over the fact that Instagram is being purchased by Facebook. People have been sounding off saying that they're not going to use it anymore and they're angry about this acquisition.

I don't understand what the problem is. I don't have instagram on my phone, but I love looking at other people's pictures.

I have no idea why people are up in arms about it! Instagram has an option to allow you to post to various social media sites. you don't have to post to any of them. I don't know how FB would change that. Zuckerberg, in a statement, said that they wouldn't change it too much. I would think if they made it mandatory to post to Facebook, everyone would delete it. I know I would.

I think a lot of people are just mad at facebook right now. Mostly because they don't like being forced to use timeline. So people are just using this as one more thing to get riled up about. I personally don't see how it's a big deal. I also don't see how Instagram is worth $1Billion!? I mean it's cool... but not that cool.

I agree with @mamamoose that I was shocked at the valuation of Instagram. I'm sure that FB is going to move to monetize it somehow. Maybe adding pay-per-use special filters? I'll continue to use it until they make me pay for it or start auto-posting to FB.

I think the issue is that in the past, Facebook retained rights to pictures posted on the site and they have a lack of commitment to privacy. But I don't use Instagram so I don't really care. I also think that they overpaid by a lot.

I'll keep using it. I think people are upset because facebook will now have their pictures forEVER lol but who knows
