My babies were born with lots of hair! Wondering if we should shave it... I do think it'll be weird to see them bald after 2 .5 months of hair...
I'm inclined to shave boy's hair but not baby girl's...

My mom didn't shave my head and I now have the thickest hair of anyone I know.

I don't get it. If they already have lots of hair why would you shave it just to get it to grow back? I personally wouldn't want to shave my baby's head. Given the amount of nicks I've had shaving my legs over the years I wouldn't risk it.

@tequiero21: I am curious about this too!
My friend shaved her daughters head at 5 months for this reason and now at 11 months it still hasn't grown back but she says it will be worth it when it does.

I had fuzz til I was 2-3 year old, but now my hair's nice and thick! Parents actually shaved my middle sister's hair when she was younger because she had so little of it.. she still has really thin hair.

Fiction. Hair grows from the root. Cutting it off anywhere above the root is not going to somehow affect the thickness.

Fiction! It will possibly make it grow in more evenly if baby has like some bald patches.

It only looks like it grows thicker because a severed strand is thicker than the tip. They practice this in my culture too, but my mom refused to shave my hair as a baby.

Absolutely fiction! Although a lot of families shave their babies' heads for reasons more related to beliefs. My husband is of East Indian descent and they shave their babies at around a year old. It's to do with a blessing for the child and to protect their karma (and they also think that it helps get them thicker hair). I really felt strongly about not shaving our son's hair off so we compromised and just had a lock of it cut off to be able to stick to the tradition, albeit symbolically...

My mom refused to shave my hair as a baby and I have plenty of hair now!
We gave Wagon Jr. a buzz cut a few months ago and it was so traumatic. I cried for days. He looked awful. Thankfully now it's all back, and I will NEVER do that again!!!!

My mom never shaved my hair and I have TONS of hair. My brother got his hair shaved and he's already thinning out in this early 30s. So definitely fiction! I think it's all genetic.

my sister shaved my nieces hair, just so that it would grow out even, not for the whole wives tale.
