We are on night one of sleep training. DS is 9 months old and he ended up in part of the crib I can't really see in the monitor so I went in. Well he was sleeping sitting up with his face in the mesh breathable bumper. I'm glad I ended up going in to check on him. I layed him down and he went to sleep but he was up 20 mins later standing and sitting up but no crying.

I ended up going back in and laying him down and patted him until he rolled over and fell asleep. It's like he sits up and can't figure out that he needs to lie down.

What should I do if/when this happens again? Just let him fall asleep sitting up and make sure he isn't in the bumper?

We are going from cosleeping/nursing to sleep to crib so I know patting him is still a sleep crutch but I wasn't sure what to do!
