Figured I would share my IUI experience in case anyone references this thread in the future.
We were going to collect at home but the nurse cited several studies that showed sperm collected in the office had better success rates (due to timing apparently) than collecting at home. They did allow me in the room with my husband (which is equipped with a TV and a stack of magazines LOL) and then we just dropped the sample off at the lab. We went back an hour later and the procedure itself was super easy and painless. They had me lay on the table for 15 minutes afterwards and then I was sent on my way.
Final sperm count after washing was 53 million with great motility. Of course my husband has not stopped talking about his "super sperm" since.
The RE did tell us to have sex prior to the IUI since my husband doesn't have a sperm issue, so we did about 20 hours before and again about 4 hours later.
The IUI wasn't covered by insurance so we spent $400 total on the procedure.

@crazydoglady: No I only had the one follicle scan. I thought I would have one the day of the IUI but nope!

@LabradorLover: how are you doing? Do you have a beta this week? Good luck!

@bhbee: I’m doing amazing! Doing my best just to be happy and enjoy this time. Don’t want to worry about anything! Beta is tomorrow at 7:05! I’m so excited!! I’ve been testing daily still to use up my tests that I have and just seeing more and more dark lines so I’m feeling very positive! Thanks for checking in!

So beta came back from today (16dpo) and my hcg is 439 and my progesterone is 29!! Woohoo!!

@mrskansas: Thank you!!! Hope your tww is going well so far and that the holidays will be a good distraction for you!
@PeaceLily: Thank you!!

So of course the day after my IUI I came down with a horrible cold. Coughing, body aches, chills etc. I coughed so much that my ovaries felt like they were going to burst open. I did have to take cold medicine and ibuprofen.
I'm 3 dpo today so I'm sure being this early it won't affect anything, but of course I'm worried about it!

@mrskansas: I hope you feel better soon! I wouldn't worry about taking meds now.
I thought about testing out the trigger this month, but decided against it. I'm not sure I'm even going to test this month, I may just wait for the blood test, but we'll see. I'm not sure how I feel about this month. Part of me thinks there's a chance, but part of me doesn't since I feel like I feel the same way I did with my unsuccessful IUIs. I'm only 3dpiui though so way too early to read into anything! I'm just a bit of a pessimist.

@PeaceLily: I've already decided that this cycle didn't work for me either. After all the struggle over the last year and a half I pretty much assume I will never be pregnant again, so I get it.
It's very hard to be optimistic.
Hopefully this works for both of us and we can be due date twins!

@mrskansas: It's so tough when you're used to BFNs every month. It's hard for me to picture myself pregnant again, even though it seemed so natural and normal last year.
I definitely feel like my body let me down since I somehow conceived without an issue and if my baby was healthy he'd be here with us now and I wouldn't be ttc right now. Infertility after a 20 week loss just seems cruel, ugh.
Praying for the best for both of us!

@OurEastAndWest: How are you doing, hon? I hope time is racing by as you wait for IVF.

What do you guys think about changing the title of this group to something more generic (since fall is over ?) I was thinking something super creative like "TTC 6 months+ Support."

@mrskansas: @PeaceLily: Any news or still too early? Hoping for you both!
apricot / 360 posts
@crazydoglady: Still too early. I'm 6dpiui and not planning to test this month. I think I'll just wait for the blood test. I've been getting pretty intense AF cramps for 2 days now so not feeling too hopeful unfortunately...
nectarine / 2431 posts
@PeaceLily: Sorry! I was thinking you were around 9dpo. I hope it's a case of "I thought I was getting AF and got a BFP instead."
apricot / 360 posts
@crazydoglady: No worries! I tend to think that every month and it's always AF, ugh. I did think I was getting AF when I was pregnant too though and I cramped almost the entire time I was pregnant, especially the first trimester, so I think I just cramp a lot. We'll see!
My husband's infection is gone so that's good news, now we just need to make sure mine is gone as well. I'd probably try injectables next since they seem to have a better success rate than just clomid or femara. So hoping I don't need that, but nice to know we have some more options.
nectarine / 2431 posts
@PeaceLily: I totally hear ya. I google "thought I was getting AF but got BFP instead" every cycle. It is nice to have more options like gonal f. I've been on femara for 3 cycles and haven't noticed a difference.
apricot / 360 posts
@crazydoglady: I'm sorry you haven't had success with femara. I'm hopeful things will work out for you soon! Hope you're doing well.

@mrskansas: How are you doing? 9dpiui today and I'm not sure what to expect. I've decided that I'm not going to test, but my blood test is still 5 days away, which doesn't really sound like a lot, but this is the part of the tww that really drags on for me...

@mrskansas: @PeaceLily: Thinking of both of you as the TWW nears the end and sending so much

@periwinklebee: Thank you! I go from feeling hopeful to hopeless, it's so annoying. My husband is much more optimistic than me so I feel extra nervous about disappointing him.
How are you doing? You're almost there!
nectarine / 2813 posts
@PeaceLily: I'm 9dpo too and feeling pretty hopeless already. I did test out the trigger and started getting negatives yesterday so hopefully the next time I test it will be positive but I just can't imagine this working.
nectarine / 2431 posts
@mrskansas: I hope it's just too early.
I just found out my husband and I have to get STD testing before our IUI. We pay OOP for everything so this sucks...
apricot / 360 posts
@mrskansas: I'm sorry you're feeling hopeless. Going through fertility treatments can really mess with your mind. I was hopeless a few days ago, then the last 2 days I was feeling better, but I've had mild period cramping all day today which is my norm each month, so back to feeling hopeless. Ugh. I really hope you get a bfp next time you test!
My husband is optimistic, but he said recently that it's still hard for him to imagine me pregnant again since we've only had 1 pregnancy in 16 months of trying. Definitely makes me think the pregnancy was a fluke. I'm worried IVF will be our only option and not sure we can really afford that.
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@crazydoglady: could you do it at planned parenthood or something where it might be cheaper? And pass on results?
nectarine / 2431 posts
@bhbee: I am definitely going to look into another clinic if it's super expensive. Thanks for the idea!
nectarine / 2431 posts
@PeaceLily: I am hoping its implantation!
I know you recently did testing for infections...do you know if a full panel STD testing looks for those things you and your husband were diagnosed with?
apricot / 360 posts
@crazydoglady: It doesn't since neither of our infections were STDs. Our RE did STD testing when we first started with them and both of ours were clear, which is what I'd hope since we've been together since we were 15/16.
I wouldn't worry too much about infections causing fertility problems, I don't think it's too common. Our RE doesn't think our infections have played any part in us struggling with ttc this year.
nectarine / 2431 posts
@PeaceLily: I gotcha. Just trying to hit two birds with one stone. And I really hope you know I wasn't implying anything! I just know it's a comprehensive panel and wasn't sure if it tested other infections.
apricot / 360 posts
@crazydoglady: No worries! I totally understand wanting to get checked out for everything. I'm already thinking about what I want to be tested for if this cycle is a bust.
I'm thinking of asking for an endometrial biopsy to check for bacteria and inflammation in my uterus since I know D&Es can cause endometritis.
I also would like to get checked for endometriosis since I always assumed I had this to some extent. I have horribly painful, long periods, but nobody has ever brought up endo for some reason. My aunt had this and it kept her from conceiving, so it's always in the back of my mind.
I'm not sure Id want to go into a 4th IUI without doing some more testing to actually figure out what's going on. Unexplained is such a frustrating diagnosis, ugh.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@PeaceLily: I know it can be really hard to be hopeful - especially when unexplained IF seems to defy all logic - but we will be hopeful for you.
apricot / 360 posts
@periwinklebee: Thank you
It's still so hard for me to accept that this is where we are right now. I know we will get past this eventually, but we just feel stuck. I have pretty bad anxiety so that doesn't help either.
