Supposedly, using a fan helps decrease SIDS risk significantly. If you used a fan for this reason, did you use a ceiling fan or a personal-size fan clipped to / placed next to the crib? Just curious.

We would occasionally use a ceiling fan on low. But I think there is mixed research on this.

We are in a rental now with no ceiling fans. When needed we had a small tabletop fan on her bookshelf across the room from her crib. But she was in our room for the first few months. We have a box fan that we sometimes use when it is warm but in the winter we didn't turn on the fan in her room unless it seemed stuffy.

We used ceiling fans. I kept it on low with the direction reversed even during the winter--her grandparents thought we were insane.

We don't have a ceiling fan in his room so we used a small tabletop fan on his bookshelf. It doubles as white noise and was about 10 dollars from target, so it was pretty perfect.

We had our ceiling fan on pretty continuously for the first few months.

We use fans but mainly for the white noise. We like the small vornado fans.

We used a small fan in the room (still do and my son is over 2 yrs!), just make sure not to point it directly at the baby.
