We're still pregnant so I think I'm going to just get him a little onsie that says something like "I love daddy". I'm not sure if he's planning on doing anything for Mother's day or not so we'll have to see.

I've already started planning for hubs' first father's day! I've got my BIL and hubs' group of boyfriends to take hubs on a bromantical day of golfing! Hubs hasn't been out on the course since this time last year and he's been itching to go.

Of course! Not sure what yet... hmmm.
it's his first fathers day so I really want it to be special.

we're pregnant with our first, so i ordered something small. a newborn onesie, booties, and cap set of our local football team. dh is obsessed with all things nfl and fantasy, and bb is due in the thick of the football season

I bought DH, "Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters: 10 Secrets Every Father Should Know" (even though he loathes reading..I'm hoping he'll read it). I also plan to get a father-to-be card, and something else that I haven't decided yet.
@mrsjyw: oooh good idea! I'm what I call a Sunday (& other days) Widow..I lose him to golf when it's warm and football when it's chilly. How stinking cute would matching jerseys be?!

@sorrycharlie: hehe me too!!! dh has golfed at least once the last 3 wknds... and omg, all day football on sunday?! ugh. i know too much about football than i'd like to admit!

I want to give him something special since we're expecting a baby girl but I'm not sure what to give him. Last year, I gave him a Fathers Day card from Tiny Prints from my son. I had tiny prints mail it to our house (addressed to my husband) and the return address had my son's name on it. keke. He was confused at first but then realized what it was and started tearing up. haha! I think i'm gonna do the same thing this year and try to make it a yearly tradition. Hopefully when my son gets older, he can make his own father's day cards and he can mail it to daddy himself.
Man.....I'm putting all this thought in Father's Day for my husband. I better not be disappointed with Mother's DAY!!!! lol

@banana: HAHA I was thinking the same thing about mother's day and father's day! DH wasn't raised celebrating it, so I'm hoping that people will give him advice this mother's day at my grandparents house for next. He does well on birthdays and Christmas, though, also things he didn't grow up celebrating so we will see! We're also having a girl so I grabbed the father/daughter book, but I'm not sure what else to put with it! I wanna get him all sappy

@sorrycharlie: +1 for wanting to make daddy sappy! hahaha. I think it's cute! My husband isn't the super creative type so he usually just ends up buying me something generic (like flowers or a scarf...i don't even wear scarves). I told him I'm looking for something thoughtful. I could care less how much it costs. He said he will "try". hahaha. Curious to see what he comes up with.
Oooooooh, what's a father/daughter book?? Sounds awesome!

@banana: I bought this for DH, http://www.amazon.com/Strong-Fathers-Daughters-Secrets-Father/dp/0345499395/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1336671117&sr=1-1, and I got this one for my dad several years back, http://www.amazon.com/Why-Daughter-Needs-Dad-Hundred/dp/1581822766/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1336671148&sr=1-2
the second one is adorable. it has photos with little quotes, such as, "...to learn how to ride a bike." with a photo relating on each page!

@sorrycharlie: It's a GREAT book! I bought it for DH and I read it too.
I'll probably give/make him something personalized.

@sorrycharlie: So cute! Might have to get my hubby one for Father's day! Thanks for the link!

@chopsuey119: the strong fathers one? awesome! that's kind of my plan..for me to read it and tell him about it. LOL!
@banana: no problem!
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@sorrycharlie: yep!! Make your Dh read it! Mine did and really liked it!!

@chopsuey119 @sorrycharlie: I just bought the strong father's one from Amazon! Yippee! I just read an excerpt and I think my husband will LOVE it, especially since he's so freaked out about having a daughter. haha. I might have to also get him the Boys version from the same author "Boys should be boys". Seriously, he's gonna be like "This isn't a present. It's homework!" (he hates reading unless it's sports-related). haha
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@banana: LOL!! I'm thinking DH is going to give me the same reaction. He HATES reading.

@sorrycharlie: HAHAHA! I made my husband go through the baby name book this weekend to pick some names for our baby girl and 10 minutes into it, he goes "Can I go play now?"
Man, I hope my kids share my love for reading and not my husband's!

Not this year, but I will in the future. I will probably make something or have pictures taken or something. I like gifts that are homemade and can be kept as a memory.

It will be his first Father's Day (I'm due June 9th) so I'm buying him a picture frame for one of our baby's first photos with him.

This came up on the other thread about Mother's day, but since DH doesn't think that I "qualify" as a mom yet since I'm still pregnant, I guess that means I don't need to do anything special for him on Father's day this year

DH got me such a great mothers day gift, so I feel pressure to get him something nice. I have no idea what though.
