What's your favorite brand of sneakers for a walking toddler?
I'm leaning towards Pumas, Sauconeys, Adidas or Nikes?
There's a clearance sale on Finish Line right now!

We have adidas and they fit my kids well! The black and white shell toes go with almost anything, and the three velcro straps are nice for keeping them on and adjusting tightness. But we haven't tried any of the other brands, so I can't compare. I think adidas generally run on the wider side, which is good for my kids, but maybe not for everyone.

@MerryC: How's the sizing on their sneakers?

SOmething that is machine washable! I don't buy anything higher end than Osh Kosh at the moment. I buy two pairs at a time per size at less than $15 a pop from Marshalls.

LO only has Target and Carter's sneakers and they are great. Her sneakers from Target get the most compliments.

@looch: these are all on clearance for $19 and I wouldn't buy unless I Can find a coupon too.
I don't pay more than $15-$20 for her shoes. But might make an exception for good weather/winter proof boots which is a necessity around here.
@mrsjazz: how have they held up? Her SKRs have taken a beating after wearing them daily for 2 months. I'm disappointed in the quality but I paid less than $7 so can't complain.
I just wonder if the Nikes/Adidas will be better for their feet and more comfortable. I'm less concerned about looks.

@regberadaisy: yes, boots/winter shoes, different ball game...although I do like the LandsEnd childrens boots, they open very wide so it's a lot easier to stuff his feet in there.
eta: my son did have a pair of pumas and he tripped a lot while wearing them, i think it was because the grip level of the soles. let me see if I can find which ones they were. He literally wore them once.

charlie has had two pairs of adidas (the first when he was 12 months) and they have lasted really well.

We had a pair of Adidas and found them to be too narrow for DD. Sauconys were great for her. Pumas were pretty decent as well. She also did well with Stride rite but I'm guessing they don't sell those at Finish Line.

Love stride rite sneakers! I usually find them on clearance at Nordstrom online for $20 or less.

@regberadaisy: I think they run true to size! My kids have keens in the same size, which run small, and the adidas are a little bigger but not like a whole size or anything.

@looch: glad to hear you like the Land's End boots. That's def where I will look too. Snow hits around October here so I need to start my boot deal search soon!

@anbanan15: You stole it. But they are the AWESOMEST. Our kids play in poop on the regular (one of the perks of farm life?) and being able to wash shoes so easily is just the best. Mud, smells, you name it, it comes off like a dream and the shoes look brand new.
Unfortunately Ellie has discovered light up shoes. We do like Geox (she's had two pair now), but they would be much better if you only ever wore them indoors. They are cute and comfortable and very well made, but a pain in the tush to clean because they are all leather (well, pretty much).

@regberadaisy: I just wanted to add that we have been through lots of winter boots and we adore Sorel. They stand up to really cold temperatures and rough play. The best is that they have a cinch at the ankle to customize fit and make sure they stay on snugly, and a toggle at the top (so at calf height) to cinch around snowsuit fabric and keep snow out. Ellie freaks if she gets snow inside her boots (I don't much care for the feeling, either), and if we are out playing and it's below zero I prefer her feet to stay dry. They do the trick.

@Mrs. Twine: yes!!! Love Sorels! I've gotten them for nieces and nephews on deal sites and they've been great. They're also in 6pm a lot.
