Yay for date nights!
It's not new, but my absolute favorite restaurant is Hungry Mother. @Mrs. Wagon knows what I'm talkin about!
I went to Row 34 a month or two ago, and the food was amazing. Excellent quality seafood, with perfect execution. Really great seafood menu.
Two of the restaurants I'm dying to try are Ribelle and Mei Mei.

Grotto! It's small and they take reservations.
We went to Barcelona for brunch and it was really good, brought our LO
We also go to petit Robert for dates
We're lame and stay in our neighborhood for most dates

@ShootingStar: love tapas! I just went to a new place in Brookline called Barcelona and it was amazing. I love a place in Allston called Tasca because it was where we decided to become a couple oh and the food is awesome. Cuchi cuchi is also so good!
@ineebee: um yeah Hungry Mother... Best meal of my life!!!! No joke.
@brady80: I love Grotto and Petit Robert!! And you mentioned Barcelona too.. Haha, are we the same person??
Craigie on Main is pretty amazing. Our favorite for a long time was Lumiere in West Newton. For steak it's Grill 23. Max Brenner for dessert!

@cheert16: let me know if you want to bring LO to the MFA!

I love Toro in the south end- no reservations and the wait can be really annoying but the tapas are so good. The dates are my favorite. Dali in Cambridge (Somerville?) is also great for tapas. Next to Dali, Kebab Factory is my favorite Indian.
Lincoln in southie is our go to now.
I've brought Lo to lunch at stephis in southie and the barking crab and both were pretty baby friendly. Outdoor seating in the summer really makes it easier though.

Oh and oiishi in chestnut hill for sushi. So good. Tiny and out of the city but if you are in the neighborhood it's so yummy.

@mrs. wagon: totally that sounds great! I haven't been to the MFA in years
ETA; we are going to the aquarium tomorrow- I am so excited!

@ineebee: I've heard good things about Hungry Mother...gonna have to try that one out soon. Is it in Somerville?
We just celebrated our 3rd anniversary, so we are celebrating by going to see "Rain - A Tribute to the Beatles." My husband made us reservations for Mama Maria in the North End. We've never been, but the menu looks amazing and it has great reviews on Yelp. I can't wait.

I'm not in MA but we have a Barcelona where I live in CT and it's our favorite restaurant!! I could eat Patatas Bravas for the rest of my life.
Have fun!!!

@bunnylovesbear: If you go, plan in advance and make a reservation. Hungry Mother is in Cambridge, near Kendall Sq. The catfish and cornbread are to die for.

@brady80: We are in the burbs, so its exciting for us to go into the city (lame.... I know)

Yes, Craigie on Main is my #1 favorite in Boston.
We're eating at Row 34 next weekend for FIL's birthday, looking forward to it!

I love the view from Legal Harborside. And you can always walk right down the street from there for some fresh brews at the Harpoon Beer Hall. We are pretty low key so our "dates" tend to be more along the line of the beer hall - pretzels & beer, yum!

my absolute favorite place is Myers and Chang (South End). we used to take LO there (on the early side of the dinner hour) but now that she's 2 we pretty much only take her to low key places . . . Bertucci's, Wagamama, etc.
I really like the bar at Via Matta (near the Park Plaza). they have (at least last time we went, which was a while ago) amazing basil lime gimlets and this dessert called Mascarporeos that are to die for.
also Painted Burro for Mexican in Davis Sq (I heard they are opening one soon in Downtown Crossing too) is a fun vibe. and Davis Sq has a lot of fun bars.
we actually were disappointed when we went to Hungry Mother. maybe we went on a bad night? or maybe just not our favorite kind of food?
we also like L'Andana in Burlington - fun space and good food.

@petunia354: I was just thinking if that Barcelona in CT is the same one they're talking about! I used to live/work in White Plains and hung out around that side of CT all the time!

Another vote for Craigie on Main(my fav)! Other date night favs are Oleana (and I hear she has a new place in Sommerville that is yummy), Ten Tables in JP, Neptune Oyster (no ressies), B&G oysters, the Buttery, Hammerslys, Franklin Cafe, Stella( plan in advance), Toro (go early!), Myers and Chang, Coppa and Giacamos.
With kids (aside from the waterfront joes which is so easy), Pico in the South End, Legal Harborside, Canary Square in JP, Barking Crab and really anywhere on the early side!

I love the Beehive in the South End.
And Harvard Square has lots of yummy options and it's fun to walk around and see the sights there. Even in the winter there are street performers, there's Harvard Yard, etc.

Marco and vinoteca di monica in the north end are great date spots! I also love toscano on charles st. and lala rokh in beacon hill. dali is super cute, and we really liked hamersleys and butcher shop in the south end. for sushi my favorites were oishii jn chestnut hill (south end location is not as good), and fish market in allston though neither are about ambience.

@knittylady: OOOH YES HELMAND! The pumpkin appetizer is to die for.

When I lived there I used to love Tangierino in Charlestown. I still think about it several years later

Ooh there are so many good ones! Everyone has had great suggestions but here are some of my favorites. For fancy schmancy, L'Espalier or Menton. Still pricey but slightly less formal: No. 9 Park. Sportello is great (near the Children's Museum!). Toro is amazing (as everyone said, go super early) and so is Oleana (make reservation weeks in advance!). Posto or Figs for great pizza. Myers and Chang is great. Lots of great ones in Harvard Square: Ten Tables (ok not quite in the Square), Rialto, Harvest, Henrietta's Table. Puritan and Co in Inman Square. Ok I'm done!

PICCO in the South End is completely delicious--fun but not fancy. Orinoco (South End, Brookline Village, and Harvard Square) is the absolute best (Venezuelan food)--I can't believe no one has mentioned it yet! Oleana has a casual bakery (tiny but soo yummy for lunch called Sofra that I would drive very far for). Full Moon cafe in Cambridge is a really fun place for LO's--nice, tasty adult food and a little area to play in for kids, and all in all very child friendly...

Another vote for Hungry Mother. I have dreams about that place! I also really love Oleana. I've heard great things about Craigie on Main, but I moved away soon after it opened, so I still haven't tried it.

@jojogirl: I just went to Row34 today and it was AMAZING! Definitely get the crudo if you like the raw bar - I had the tuna and I'm already fantasizing about going back for it.
Some of my faves: Ten Tables in JP, Grassfed (casual but great burgers and awesome beet fries), Shake Shack in Chestnut Hill, Oishii in Chestnut Hill for legit awesome sushi, Dok Bua in Brookline for Thai.

@catlady: I went to harvest last wk, it was amazing! I would go back in a heartbeat!
