@Crystal: Yeah, Smitten Kitchen is pretty dependable. I'm sure the peaches are great too, I just prefer apples. She also has some dark chocolate souffle cupcakes with mint white chocolate whipped cream frosting. Those are SPECTACULAR.

We always make a berry trifle. Layer pound cake (we use Sara Lee) sprinkled with sherry, mixed berries, and a custard sauce. Top with whipped cream. In a tall glass dish, it really makes a beautiful presentation and it is delicious.

My MIL makes a wonderful Rum Cake. I don't have the recipe but it seems so festive for Christmas. I'm sure you could find one online.

Pioneer woman's recipe for rum cake! I get so many compliments and requests for the recipe. I up the sugar in the glaze and the alcohol too. I've used it with rum and a macadamia nut liqueur
