Mmmm, I bought some sweet cherries and had a slice of watermelon this weekend. So good! Can't wait for them to go on sale.
Also, I love corn on the cobb.

@pinkcupcake: yellow cherries? Mmm... Never had them before.
Are they similar to the Rainier cherries?

Watermelon and ice cream. Well I love ice cream all year long but I love getting a cone in the summer.

@bluestriped bee: yes, rainier cherries! I'm not sure if they are a WA state thing? I can't wait for Costco to start selling them
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@pinkcupcake: Oh, they sell them at Costco? I need to look out for them.
I don't think I've seen those type of cherries until I moved out here.

Summer fruits for sure! I also love making my own suntea infused with lemons and strawberries!

@bluestriped bee: yep, Costco typically starts carrying them around June I think. Best part of summer (IMO)

I was just wondering when cherries will be available again. Watermelon and mangoes are my other faves. I also love mangosteens and longan but they aren't widely available here.

Fresh tomatoes, corn, berries and peaches. Also sweet iced tea and snow cones!

@Tidybee: Holla Rita's!
The suntea is super easy. We choose a berry flavored tea like Lemon Berry Zinger or Lipton makes a strawberry tea. I fill a 3Q water pitcher with water, stick 10 tea bags in, slice up a lemon and a bunch of strawberries and throw them in. Stick it in the sun for a few hours, take the teabags out and serve over ice with some fruit in or not

@2PeasinaPod: That sounds delicious! Gotta try that soon.

@bluestriped bee: Forgot to add that you can sweeten it to your liking. I find that the strawberries sweeten it enough for me.

@NorCalWayfarer: love having caprese sandwiches throughout the summer!
@sunny: just bought some rainier cherries today - $10 for a larger basket but so good! I also got some red ones and they were super sweet and yummy too!
I just love being able to eat fresh fruit all summer. And I definitely have to agree that summer corn on the cob can't be beat. And I just love eating cold and refreshing food...like fruit salad, pasta salad, and salsas. And eating outside is so fun after being cooped up all winter.
@Mrs. Pen: grilled veggies are soooo good! After roasting and sautéing everything over the winter I love just putting some veggies on the grill with olive oil and salt/pepper...so simple and so good!
