@Sams Mom: I would have figured that they had tested your levels at some point. Weird, especially having 2ndary infertility... Someone dropped the ball.

@fuzzypeaches: I totally understand that feeling. After every loss it seems like I say, "I can only take one more of these" and here we both are still in the trying again camp.
@Sams Mom: Check your prenatal, too, those usually have a healthy dose of vitamin D.
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@karenbme: mine only has 400 IU
In all the studies I read they gave something like 50,000 IU (per week). The Vitamin D supplement I bough is 2,000 IU daily, so hopefully it helps some.

@Sams Mom: I'll be curious to see if you feel like it works. I read an article recently that reviewed a number of studies showing that vitamin D supplementation has limited benefits and doesn't come close to the positive impacts associated with just being outside in the sun in moderation (ie without burning) without sunscreen on. It was a pop article, but cited multiple peer reviewed studies (with links so that you could read abstracts, which I always find makes me trust things so much more) and quoted several doctors talking about how we know there are certain positive impacts of sun exposure, but there hasn't been a lot of research into the causality behind those positive impacts beyond vitamin D. Vitamin D is certainly part of it, but UV exposure may activate other unknown cellular processes, which is super interesting.

@karenbme: I definitely feel better in the not winter months, but it still not perfect. I was just shocked by how many with hashimotos had such low levels compared to those with even just hypthyroidism.
persimmon / 1419 posts
@Sams Mom: Yeah, I'm not saying that you're not potentially vitamin D deficient, just that there may be differential impact between supplementing vitamin D and naturally produced vitamin D.
persimmon / 1495 posts
@Sams Mom: and @karenbme: My vitamin D levels were low when my RE checked them a few months ago. There is some newer (I think) research linked miscarriages with low vitamin D levels. The level they wanted was around a 30 and mine was 22. After 3 months of taking supplements, my number went up to 29. I haven't been pregnant since my last loss in early December, so we'll see what happens this month.
nectarine / 2288 posts
@Sams Mom: I'd take all the vitamin d if you think your levels are low.
@karenbme: obviously getting out in the sun is ideal but my PCP, who is great, said that supplementing is way better than nothing if you live in a climate where real sunshine isn't feasible. We live in Phoenix and there are lots of days where you really can't go outside for any appreciable amount of time unless you get up at sunrise
persimmon / 1419 posts
@MamaBear87: Totally agree, not trying to tell anyone not to take vitamins, just curious about it. I live in a place where it's below zero and dark 15 hours a day a couple months a year, so it's something I wonder about.
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@Chuckles: I read some of those studies as I googled if there is such thing as too much vitamin D in pregnancy.
I know it might not be a cure all, but it's a shot. Also read that they're finding the former mid-range of normal is actually looking to be the minimum now. π€·ββοΈ
I don't do heat well either so when the sun is shining, I'm in the AC
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@MamaBear87: my husband had testosterone levels issues from all the pain meds he was on before he had 2 discs replaced in his neck. I guess Vitamin D was effected too... Now I'm going to go home and pick his brain about if the 50,000 UI daily vitamin D made him feel better or not
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@karenbme: no, I get that. I just want to throw all things at it, and since it won't be conducive to getting outside in the sunshine very often for a couple months yet... It's a shot in the dark. Just trying to have control of something that I so clearly have no control over.
persimmon / 1064 posts
@Sams Mom: I don't think Vitamin D supplements will *hurt* anything, so I'd do it. We live in MT (currently boasting a temperature of -2F with a real feel of -14F) so while I know @karenbme is correct about "real" sun vs supplements...I'm not going outside with exposed skin any time soon
AFM...hanging out at 6 DPO. Thinking about POAS right now. It's just a wondfo, and I'm pretty sure they are expired...so it's just for fun! #poasiscool
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@bees_knees: I think I've ceded my POAS Queen title to you
I mean it is expired, and it's getting thrown away anyways... soooooooo, why not?
nectarine / 2288 posts
@karenbme: oh I have a weird relationship with any vitamins after my svt that surfaced last year and thinking that excess vitamin b6 may have had a hand but vitamin d is one of the few I'll still supplement because it's legit dangerous to spend too much time outside here in the summer. And sounds like you have the same problem with cold in the winter.
@Sams Mom: we give my husband vitamin d in the summer and it seems to help him rebound but we've never done that much daily
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@MamaBear87: his was like non existent I guess. His doctor told him she hasn't had to dose someone that high in a long time with vitamin D
persimmon / 1064 posts
@Sams Mom: Iβm not sure if I should be embarrassed or flattered, but for now I will wear the crown proudly
My 1 hour hold, 6 dpo on a 2 year expired wondfo was negative. I am shocked! π€£
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@bees_knees: I mean I was really holding out for a blazing positive at 6 dpo
persimmon / 1064 posts
@Sams Mom: wouldnβt that be something? And then Iβd find out I was actually like 8 weeks pregnant and get to skip most of the first trimester?
Ahhhh a girl can dream
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@bees_knees: that was my first pregnancy
6w3d... So like 31 dpo is when I first tested. I don't know if I can handle the wait to my first appointment knowing sooner this time around, because I was not impressed when the nurse told me he didn't need to see me until 8 weeks π€£
persimmon / 1064 posts
@Sams Mom: haha!! With DS1 DH was out of town and so we didnβt have our first appointment until 10 weeks!! It was torturous.

@bees_knees: I have the same dream... but now that I'm a POAS addict, I know it'll never happen.
So DD spiked a fever again today and hurray for verbal communication, is able to point and tell me "ear hurt." Unfortunately now I'm all achy and have a fever too. My MIL is going to come take care of her while I head off to work tomorrow. Ironically, there's not much calling in sick allowed in my job. Some days I want to be a SAHM, but only some.

Happy V-Day ladies! I'm still in TWW limbo over here. 10 dpo with another small temp drop today. I had very light spotting late yesterday and last night so I fully expected an early AF today. I had one more episode of spotting tonight. My boobs have been sore and I'm crampy too so it could really go either way at this point. I took a test earlier and swear I see the faintest pink shadow. It could be an evap but all my other tests have been snowy white so I'm trying to remain hopeful. If the spotting yesterday was implantation than I shouldn't expect a decent + until tomorrow. AF is due Sat so I should know for sure soon enough. I'll keep you posted. Hope everyone was feeling the love today!

This was as good as I could get. I'm sure most of you will say I'm crazy. There's also a weird little dot off to the side that I didn't notice at first so I'm just going to say evap or faulty test. π€·ββοΈ

@Phillybaby2013: I might see something when I zoom in π€
AFM, Iβm over here symptom spotting now (one of the few neurotic things in TTC I donβt do) until now... my nipples, more specifically my right nipple, now feels just like it would when I was pregnant and breastfeeding. A bit tingly with some very scant discharge. Back when I had DD I was so worried about it (because it was unilateral) that I saw my OB for it. It was just me. This is definitely weird.
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@Phillybaby2013: ok, so I think I see a line when I zoom in. Also with sharpening, smoothing, and cranking the saturation all the way up; I think I see it a little better π€·ββοΈ
The little dot is weird.
As usual the wait and see will tell... It's never fun to wait and see.
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@yellowbeach: solidarity... I called my doctor freaking out because I started leaking milk (or looked like milk) out of my right boob; almost a year after I weaned my son. He said it wasn't a big deal since it looked like milk π€·ββοΈ
Hopefully this is a thing though, and you're prego
persimmon / 1495 posts
@fuzzypeaches: How are you doing? Hoping for the best for you tomorrow if you test!!
persimmon / 1064 posts
@Phillybaby2013: I maaaaybe see something? Are you testing tomorrow? Can't wait to see
@yellowbeach: Interesting! Especially if you haven't had that in past cycles! My boobs are sore but I'm chalking it up to a symptom of progesterone in general (this is the first cycle I've had since April 2017...and the second cycle I've had since September 2015...thank you, breastfeeding ) I hope it is a good sign for you!!
kiwi / 520 posts
@bees_knees: of course I'm testing tomorrow. I'm neurotic. I can't tell you how many I've taken over the last few days. I actually brought one to work tonight to take in the AM before I leave. (I'm 11-7 and sleep during the day). But the tell will be my temp when I get up in the afternoon. We'll see!

@Sams Mom: I commend your tweaking skills. It's more visible on my phone but I'm glad you guys see something even if it turns out to be nothing.

@yellowbeach: I was having the same boob feeling last night. It almost felt like a letdown for me. It was strange. Symptom spotting is the worst.
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@bees_knees: so jealous of your lack of cycles! Even EBF I had my period @ 4 weeks PP
@Phillybaby2013: cant wait to see your test!
@Kaohinani: how is the chart looking? I'm getting anxious already to see how the one hit wonder cycles turn out π€·ββοΈ
persimmon / 1064 posts
@Sams Mom: Yes! I never get my period until I night wean! Not hating that! Haha ...4 weeks PP is awful
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@bees_knees: yep, bleed for 2 weeks after my c section, got 1 whole whopping week off, then the she devil made her appearance.
@yellowbeach: my husband asked me at dinner if I'd peed on a stick or flicked the bean today. π€£π€£π€£
I told him I didn't really have to do either for a week if I didn't want to π€·ββοΈ

Once again, I must turn in way too early, as I miss all of the fun!
I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day yesterday.
@Phillybaby2013: I definitely see "something" even on the one that is not digitally retouched. I hope this morning (or tomorrow) finds you with a BFP.
@Yellowbeach: I get unilateral nipple and breast tenderness in the TWW and it worsens with pregnancy. I have had it this cycle since 1 dpo. It may (I'm not assuming it is) be CBT. From my understanding, it is due to the effect of progesterone on cystic breast tissue. (You may or may not have this.) CBT (or fibrocystic breasts) can be caused by AMA, a genetic predisposition, and intense hormonal shifts. Most of the cysts are smaller than a grain of rice at any given time and often can not be "felt" through breast tissue/fat and fascial tissue. At 25, I had one that became infected and could not be removed using fine needle aspiration (* It had grown to the size of a pingpong ball and was beginning to harden) so it had to be excised. Regular treatment for monthly flares include warm compresses and pain relieving medication. Some specialists say massage helps as well, but I find it uncomfortable massaging an already sore breast with a tender nipple.
@Sams Mom: I manually changed my OV date on FF so all 3 apps align. (I may not be a POAS junkie, but I am, most certainly, an OCD charting fiend! ) My temps fell about .40. I am assuming it is a corpus luteum dip since it is too late for fallback rise and too early for implantation as I am 5 dpo and the about earliest recorded for implantation is 5 dpo in an optimal situation (* Mine is not optimal ππ€£). Since DD was a "1 'hit me up' wonder" at 27 years old, I wonder if there is a possibility nearly 12 years later? As this cycle goes on, I am finding myself more and more anxious.
P.S. π€ WTH is flicking the bean? (I guess the lingo is lost on me! ) I'm hoping it has nothing to do with cootie (coochie) catching?
