Yeah it is but I usually get two days of peakish looking tests and I'm usually trying to deduce which is the stronger line as they both look positive - lol in the end I guess it probably doesn't matter and I should just be doing lots of BD!
I think what's probably happening is that my true peak peak is sometime between when I do the two tests and that's why I get two positive tests.

Current Cycle Day: 16
Ovulation Date: ha. We'll see.
POAS date: 2/5 probably.
Cycles trying: 5th now
BD timing: New doc has me on Metfornin this cycle and BD every other day CD10-20, with OPK's daily CD10-20. No positive OPK yet. I have PCOS... so even though I lost 50 lbs and am on Metformin, I'm feeling VERY hopeless. A little frustrated to be doing this for 3 months before the new doc will consider Clomid since we've been trying since fall.
Plans for Valentine's Day this year: Nada. HAHA, or probably more like, BD. Because that should be around CD11 for my next cycle since let's be honest, no positive OPK, this one's prob not going anywhere.
Negative Nancy, out. Womp.

@KJfromNJ - *waves* Happy to see another familiar face on here! And beyond excited for you!!

@LindsayInNYC: Hi friend! Glad to see you are more positive than me, LOL. I think B is sick of me right now because I'm so negative about all this crap. And I wouldn't want to be my OBGYN as of a week from now either, haha. She's not going to like me.
bananas / 9229 posts
@KJfromNJ - I'm probably only positive because all of the TTC stuff is still new to me And you got me at a post-AF time. I just went off BC in December so the negativity comes as my body tries to get back to normal (aka long cycles, etc.) Your ob/gyn might not like you but she'll at least be able to help (hopefully)! And, if not, I say find another ob/gyn who won't make you wait another million months before taking a different approach.

@fussygal thanks!
So I got my first smiley on Sunday. Now four days later, they're still smiley! Has anyone had four straight days of positive OPKs before?

Well I just reached an awesome TTC milestone... Not. Made my hubby BD with me even though he's sick. Poor man. I hope it's worth it this month!

@Sweetmamam: Ahh, TTC sex. I guess it can't all be romance and sexy. Way to ranger up, DH!
@Mrs. Monkey: I've seen charts in FertilityFriend with lots of positive OPKs. I was reading up on this the other day, and found the below on Peeonastick.com:
"It is possible, in a normal ovulation, to have a positive OPK for several days in a row. This is because LH peaks (surges) about 12-36 hours before ovulation occurs, and then dissipates. So, you could theoretically detect this high level of LH with positive OPK's from the time it begins to the time it dissipates-- over 36 hours.
It is also possible that your body is "gearing up" to ovulate, and you have an LH surge-- and then, for some reason (such as stress, illness, travel, or random fluke), your body fails to release an egg . . . then tries, tries again ASAP with another, or overlapping, surge. If you see a positive OPK for longer than 3 consecutive days, your egg is probably just having a little trouble getting out of the starting gate. If this happens to you occasionally, it's no big deal. If it happens a lot, talk to your doctor. (I just play one on the Internet :p)"

@sweetmamam haha fingers crossed!
@happygal Thanks a lot! That's really helpful. Glad to know it's not strange!

I should be Oing soon (cd20). Thought I was earlier this week but my temps keep decreasing...sooooo I guess not. FF predicts sometime this weekend. Guess we better get to BD.

I bought this thing..

And it's still showing 2 bars eventhough I think I'm supposed to ovulate tomorrow... Not sure if you get the 3rd bar only when you ovulate or when you have a surge... I'm so clueless.. Eventhough this is for LO 2, I'm a newbie because our first LO was unplanned...

Another day, another negative OPK. WOMPPP. Can we have a "Bitter & TTC" board please? LOL. No longer fun and exciting after a few months.
pomegranate / 3580 posts
@sweetmamam I did that the other day, too. He had the flu and I didn't (yet). Poor guys! I hope it works in your favor!
pomelo / 5132 posts
@KJfromNJ: Boo, me too. Doesn't help that my temps are looking wonky and FF tells me it *could* mean I'm not going to O this cycle or it *could* mean it will be delayed ...
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@Mrs. J: I'm really thinking about just starting a "BITTER AND TTC" thread. Because at first I was all positive about everything and now I'm so dark and down. Every time someone tells me they're pg I am happy but also upset. I feel so cynical when people are excited about their own TTC. and my BFF told me after less than 2 months trying she's pg and I can't even talk to her I'm so upset- even though I'm thrilled for her it is making me feel inexplicably devastated. And she's the one I usually talk to about deep stuff, haha! And DH isn't quite getting the urgency and isn't really sticking with the BD schedule the OBGYN gave us. Feeling very alone/hopeless/sad. </rant> lol
pomelo / 5132 posts
@KJfromNJ: I know what you mean...DH keeps telling me it hasn't been very long, which granted, it hasn't (3 months), but it doesn't mean I don't want it to happen NOW. I was getting upset about it last night, especially because DH keeps asking questions about the OPKs/temping but doesn't actually listen so he has NO idea what's going on, and I'm worried I'm not going to O this cycle, and he doesn't get the whole EOD thing that the midwife told us to follow. Blergh. Negative OPKs make me well...negative. lol.
bananas / 9229 posts
@KJfromNJ - Could you be ovulating late, hence the negative OPK right now? Have you had positive OPK in the past? FWIW, I say start a thread... You're definitely not alone in this and it might help to have others support and experiences?
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@Mrs. J: @LindsayInNYC: Same, DH doesn't get the timing/what's involved/how it all works, no matter how much I try to explain! We were NTNT all year until September we decided to get serious (aka, I DID because let's be honest he has no involvement in charting, etc) and I made an appt with a new OBGYN (since we had moved) and couldn't get in until January. So I did Oct/Nov/Dec cycles with charting, some OPK's. Temps didn't work for me, I think because I toss and turn a lot in the AM. I tried OPK's and was getting an early OPK positive but have PCOS and learned it's probably not legit. I think that messed up those cycles because I got a + OPK on like CD8. New OBGYN wouldn't start Clomid right away like I wanted (I literally cannot fathom why she's making me wait, but whatver) and is having me do OPK's CD10-20. so far all neg, I'm on CD17 so I really have about 0 hope right now that I'll get a + OPK in the next 3 days. I just can't see why she wouldn't OK starting Clomid after our history- maybe because she's "getting to know me" as a patient? In the last year I started running, eating healthier, and lost 50 lbs. I've been great since we actively started in the fall. So I can't see what these 3 cycles will do and why she is delaying the start of Clomid. Anyone else know?

So, I'm 4DPO, and my temps shot up by almost a whole degree between yesterday and today (97.18 to 97.9). Plus my boobs are sore. I'm trying really really hard to not symptom spot since I made myself crazy last month, but it's so hard!
pomelo / 5000 posts
@KJfrom NJ: sorry you're feeling bitter. I know it can be a tough process. Do you have regular cycles? One time I ovulated on CD 18, another time on CD 14. Clomid is not a fool proof solution, and it can have negative side effects. I personally prefer doctors who are more conservative in the beginning.
@EvansJamie: that's exciting!
pear / 1743 posts
@fussygal: haha I'm like legit relieved that I'm not the only one who has done this. He gets a night off tonight LOL.
@evansjamie: that's totally exciting!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@Happygal: that's good to know about why they might be conservative. I have PCOS, I have gotten regular periods since about a month off of BC 2 years ago, but not sure if I O regularly or not. Period is predictable within a day each cycle though.
persimmon / 1491 posts
@KJfromNJ: sorry to be nosey...you have regular periods with PCOS? is that common...i have been off B/C since June 2012, had a miscarriage in August (got pregnant 1st cycle), and have been trying since AF returned after my D&C...and have not been successful...i have thought about PCOS being an issue but my periods are very normal, usually 28-30 days...i just emailed my Dr. about running tests...guess we will see what happens...do you use OPK's?
pomelo / 5000 posts
@KjfromNj: please note that I have NO medical background and have not dealt with infertility myself. I don't know what standard practice is for patients with PCOS. Just want to clarify that!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@MrsCastro: have you been diagnosed with PCOS? PCOS is basically (to dumb it down) if you have 2 or more of 3 "markers" then you have it. (I believe they're irregular/absence of ovulation; testosterone levels; and actual cysts.) So people with PCOS aren't always the same. I haven't had an issue getting normal periods, and when I last used OPK's, I got a + at like CD8 or 9. Then I found out you can get + OPK's when you aren't O'ing due to PCOS horomones. My OBGYN has me testing CD10-20 and not temping, but after this cycle I am going to press for more investigation and/or try to find an RE. I have normal periods and PCOS, so it's possible. So annoying! It's basically like autism where there are so many varying levels, and not something like diabetes where you either definitely HAVE IT or DON'T. (Those may be bad examples medically but that's how I feel about PCOS... it's such a broad definition and a diagnosis doesn't dictate specific treatment, unfortunately.)
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@Happygal: LOL no worries I figure that. I just couldn't think of a reason NOT to try it but I (stupidly, optimistically) had not thought about um SIDE EFFECTS. Duh. STILL, I think I'm going to call her after this cycle and see an RE if she's not willing to delve into it further. Moving really messed up this process for us
persimmon / 1491 posts
@KJfromNJ: no not diagnosied, but i for some reason thought you would natually have irregular cycle if you had PCOS, i guess i learned something new today...TTC is such a rollercoaster of emotions of figuring stuff out...i wish Dr.'s (some, not all) would at least act like they were more proactive in helping figure out why we are not KU yet...
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@MrsCastro: HAHA I know right, pretty sure having babies makes them money... right?! lol
pear / 1743 posts
@KJfromNJ: @MrsCastro: I totally agree with the broad spectrum of PCOS - it's like you don't even have to have cysts on your ovaries to be diagnosed with it (although that was part of my diagnosis). I've had five friends diagnosed with it and none of our syndromes have presented in exactly the same way.
Met up with a friend for lunch who is pregnant after two + years of trying. It felt good to be able to offload a little bit on her about the stress of TTC... and she's a bit of an inspiration to keep persevering as she struggled with both Endo and PCOS.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@SweetMamaM: ugh endo AND PCOS? That's some IF hell right there. Glad to hear she's KU!
pear / 1743 posts
@KJfromNJ: I know, right? She got her endo under control but was still having long cycles and then got diagnosed with PCOS. She's getting married in four weeks and baby will be here between ten-twelve weeks after that so it is a happy year for her!

Ok so I got a +OPK today!!!! See what happens when I get all bitter?!? Not sure it's 100% because not sure you CAN be with PCOS, but still planning to take advantage of the husband soon before he goes to work

@Mrs. J: Thanks!!!! I hope DH is getting ready for some SEXIIIITIMEEEEE! (Yeah I plan to hit it and quit it, no time for romance before work haha)
