Does anyone else have a potty trained daughter who gets itchy and red a lot? We have been to the pediatrician for this and they suggested vinegar baths to help relieve the issue. It seems to stem from not wiping as well as she should be. On weekends we have been wiping her after she is done but she is still having issues. If you have gone through this, what did you do to help your lo?

Maybe try flushable wet wipes made specifically for toilet use?

We have this same issue, though not necessarily itching. Red/irritation/sore. Our pediatrician suggested baking soda in the bath. It's a wiping and sweating issue combined for us. We've moved to daily baths (instead of every other day) which seems to be helping. And occasionally I will put a little diaper rash cream on her overnight and it's better by morning.

We put diaper rash cream on our LO if she complains of itching or if I see that it's really red. I only do it overnight, but it really seems to help.

@MamaG: I'm thinking of moving to daily baths, too. We may try baking soda next.
@gracecat: not a bad idea. I'll have to see if she can get them out by herself. They have to be independent in the bathroom at daycare at 3. -
OMG we just had this issue about two months ago with E! Who gets daily baths, by the way....She had also just finished a round of antibiotics, so it was a suspected yeast infection, possibly. Or just major irritation. Our ped took a look at her and suggested some diaper cream in between her labia area, where she was red and irritated (and kept scratching like crazy). We use the Bordeaux's butt paste (not the cloth diaper friendly stuff we used to use on her). It doesn't seem to, ahem, rinse off when she pees.
Oh and we do use those flushable wipes, especially for poop. Gets her cleaner with less rubbing

We went thru this - we go commando at bedtime and it helps a ton!!

Any chance there is also a contact allergy from toilet paper or detergent from her underwear? My niece was super duper sensitive post potty training and my sister had to switch all her products accordingly....

@Mamaof2: we've been doing commando bedtime, as well. Air it out, as my Gram used to say.
@Madison43: well, we recently changed TP but we don't use anything with scents in detergent...
@blackbird: yes on wiping with wipes after poop. We ask that daycare does that, too.
@blackbird: sorry you're dealing with it, too. We use triple paste which seems to stay on, as well. -
I'm going through this right now with my 3 year old. She wipes herself at preschool and I just don't think she's doing a great job. We wipe her much better when at home. It's been VERY red lately so we've been loading up the triple paste at bedtime. Maybe we'll try baking soda soon if it gets really bad.

Oatmeal bath? (Aveeno)
We have also just used by paste but usually just at night when she's still in diapers. (Otherwise I'm lazy and use the spray.) I've used butt paste with undies (just a little) in a pinch. We'be only had this issue from what I'm guessing was poop though, so not in the female parts.. -
We will do a layer of diaper cream when she complains of redness/itch. We try to stay on top with toddler wipes.

The flushable wipes for toddlers come in a little box that's easy access so she should be able to do it herself.

My LO has been a little red since we started potty training... I just put two and two together reading this that we have always used Sensitive wipes but the wipes I got for her to use on the potty are the Target flushable wipes for toddlers. Thinking we need to find some sensitive flushable wipes!

We used to have this issue. We do flushable wipes, no bubbles in the bath (LO hated this change), and once a week baking soda baths. We would also do a thin layer of butt paste when she got red.

DD isn't completely potty trained yet, but I've noticed the redness due to the amount of TP she uses. We stopped bathing her everyday, so I make sure she gets washed every time she poops and whenever she gets a little red down there.
