Wondering how many of you reached orgasm when you conceived. I've heard it helps. If you know, or can remember, please share!

I didn't. Neither of us had been feeling well, and it was more of a "get it done" that time (and I know it was that time because it was the only time we managed during that fertile window).

nope! I hardly ever orgasm when we are having sex - he usually takes care of me first...so i know its not a requirement!

Yep, both times. I'm lucky and have never DTD with DH without orgasming. Usually at the same time as him.

There have been no "gold standard" studies that show this is true, but I see the logic behind it. If you orgasm normally during intercourse, then it's a fun thing to aim for. But if that's going to put extra pressure on things, then don't stress about it.

@jmarionsmith: hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!
I know I did, but can't recall if it was with or before his.

@jmarionsmith: bahahahaha
I did all three times we conceived (it's rare that it doesn't happen...unless I'm pregnant). It was also before everytime.

Yep. Before his ...
Scientifically, I've heard the spasms in the vagina & cervix area after an orgasm can help facilitate the sperm into the uterus.

@LittleLashesToes: I have been curious about this too, thanks for asking! On The Great Sperm Race they say one of the advantages of female orgasm is that it raises the pH of the woman's cervical mucus which makes for a more hospitable environment for the sperm. So if the pH thing is true it is a benefit no matter when it happens, I would think the contractions part would help mostly if it was at the same time or after his...

Woah, the poll results are bumming me out. We've spent years trying to conceive our daughter and a future child, and I was utterly set on not turning our sex life into some sad, transactional thing. Sex that I did not enjoy fully would not be an option for me.

@ScarletBegonia: Same!
@sarac: Just because I don't orgasm doesn't mean our sex is sad or not fun in the least! Women's bodies are all so different. I orgasm mostly clitorally not vaginally.

@sarac: As @princessandthebee said, just because the orgasm didn't occur within minutes of his doesn't mean the sex was unsatisfying! I have real difficulty getting there through penetration alone, and the best times are when my husband takes care of me first and then we take of him. Through many years and many partners I've realised that is by far what works best for me, and luckily it is what works best for us! Don't be bummed out for all of us that answered no!

Oh, I assumed the question just meant 'did you have an orgasm', not how it happened. Believe me, I get penetration not being all you need.

Haha, I remember having one, but was too damn drunk to even be aware of when it was in relation to his.

@sarac: Well I don't orgasm by sex alone. I still very much enjoy sex, but I don't orgasm every time we do it and this was the same before we started TTC. I need more time/extra stimulation to orgasm. I am still very happy with our sex life.
