So I am using Fertility Friend app and there are 3 days that I am fertile, and then 1 day after that's my ovulation day (according to the calendar & legend). I thought you are fertile AFTER you ovulate? Technically, which day out of these 4 days would give the highest chance of conceiving?

The egg only lives for twelve to 24 hrs and some research shows sperm needs to go through a maturing process in order to fertilise the egg which might take about 10 hrs so you stand the best chance of conceiving if sperm are ready, waiting for the egg. Statistically the best days to conceive are 1 and 2 days before ovulation. Hope this helps

But then again, I just got off BC , I don't even know if my days are accurate!

How are you tracking ovulation? My first cycle off BC I ovulated late and didn't get and EWCM. I got positive OPKs though. Have you joined the POAS boards?

@snowjewelz: How recently did you get off BC? The fertile dates, depending on the app/chart you're using, are likely default settings and may not be accurate. Are you doing anything else to confirm O?

I had no idea the chance of conception 2 days before ovulation was way higher than the chance on the day of ovulation.

@PawPrints: I think the issue with putting it into a guide is fact checking. I found it via a Google image search, and haven't looked for the study it came from

I love these charts! Since my first MC in December 2012 I have been O'ing between CD 18-21...BUT I think my body finally re-set itself because I ovulated on CD15 this month which is when I O'ed before my MCs.
I was TOTALLY not expecting to O that "early" so we only DTD on -3, -1 and +1. At first I was totally freaked but looking at this chart I think I may be in good shape! YIPEE!

@Snowdrop: I have not started doing anything else.... I downloaded FF more to track my period but then I got into reading all the little things so that's where I started wondering.
@LindsayInNY: See above! December was my last pack, and the I had my period and this is the 1st month off it.
@PawPrints & @Mrs.Someone: It seems like it is better to let the sperm hang out there before the egg comes!
So there is really no way of know when I might ovulate unless I really get into it and track?

@snowjewelz: I don't know what you mean about really getting into it, but you can use OPK sticks and then temp if you want to do that every day. But I'd start with OPK sticks.

@snowjewelz: Personally, I wouldn't stress about it this early. I went by the generic chart dates and it was totally inaccurate for me. I have never Oed around CD 14, always 19-21 or so. Plus, although this isn't the case with everyone, my body/cycles were really out of whack my first two cycles off BC.

Like PPs have said, you are much better getting BD in before you O rather than after! That way sperm is there to meet the egg when it arrives.

@snowjewelz: you are likely to O later than usual straight off BC so if you really want to know you could start opks or cm tracking. Our first month we just had daft amounts of BD, the second month you should have more of an idea but expect it to be different (probably shorter) but you never know.
