If you have an older LO did you have them stay with family the first night you were home from the hospital with the newborn?
A friend of mine just had a new baby and for the first night home their 3yo stayed with his grandparents. It sounds kind of nice but I am worried I would miss my LO too much?!

My parents were at our house, so she was home. Our family lives 16 hours away, so it wasn't possible for her to go to them. She was already in bed at the time we got home from the hospital.

@littlebittyhouse: Just wanted to add that when we brought #2 home from the hospital we went home as a family.
DH brought DS and we have pics of the 4 of us getting in the car and heading home. I wanted to include DS so he didn't feel like baby sister was taking over.

i could see how having LO #1 spend a night or two with the grandparents would be really helpful, but i would worry about LO #1 feeling like LO #2 was throwing things off even more. still, it's not a bad idea for some!

nope, but we got home around noon and my mom brought him home later that evening. Gave DH and I a chance to clean up a bit, take showers & nap. I missed him too much to let him stay another night.

No way! She stayed home.
She was ready for some routine again after us being gone.

We live with my folks presently so no where for N to go. He was here when we came home with E.

Nope, we picked DS1 up from my parent's house on the way home from the hospital - we wanted baby's first time home to be a bonding thing with all of us there.
I should add that were definitely sleepovers in those first few months! Just not the first night home, when DH went back to work was when I really needed the extra help.

She stayed with us-- we were already out of the house for 2 days/nights at the hospital, so it was nice to have us all together. Definitely helped that she's a good sleeper, so it was only H who kept us up
