@BrentLee88: If you have anxiety that bad for doctor's visits you can ask for a shortterm Rx for an anti-anxiety that you would only take when you need to go see a doctor. One of my good friends is petrified of the dentist, so she takes an anti-anxiety beforehand and is fine. Better option than not going, or suffering while you are there

My ob gyn did. She told me to start working towards a 40lb weight loss, but said if I conceived at the weight I was that would be okay. I'm 5'2 and started at 170. She also said many overweight mamas to be shed pounds when they become pregnant as they get healthy for the sake of their baby.

@BrentLee88: I totally get where you're coming from with the anxiety. It took me getting a horrible toothache (that resulted in that tooth having to be pulled because it got so bad) to get me to go to the dentist. I finally just finished having all this work done and I was so nervous for every visit, but I really felt much better afterwards!

I actually just got pregnant (like, found out last week, haha) and I'm sure I'll be nervous for my first appointment. Not just for being overweight, but also just in general. The reason I love my doctor so much is that he makes me comfortable and I forget my worries as soon as I'm back in the room! It's really important to find someone who you are comfortable with, which really helps me with my anxiety. I really wish you the best of luck and I'm glad you made the appointment; that's the hardest step for me!

Although I had been going regularly since 18 I did switch doctors during a move and went to an OB for irregular cycles and we had ben TTC for 9 months. She looked at me said I was way to over weight to get pregnant and that even if. Could get pregnant I would be so high risk it would be a horrible idea. I had no exam no blood text, nothing, she just said loose weight and. Could get pregnant. I was mortified and I cried in my car. I also never went back to her. I found a different OB who did say that my weight could be involved and it sounded like I might have PCOS. She did say that loosing some weight and cutting way back in carbs could help with the insulin resistance that is involved in PCOS and she referred me to an RE to start treatments.

I think that first OB was terribly unprofessional and it highly unusual but it does happen. Just know that if you are uncomfortable or don't like the person you have a choice to see some one else.

Your first Pap smear is a bit awkward just because you might not know what to expect but really they are not tha bad (and if you get pregnant you will get used to all kinds of shenanigans going on down there so it's just a good prep for that)

@BrentLee88: Everybody is different.... but it was very hard for me! I craved peanut butter milkshakes all the time. And in my first trimester especially everything made me want to puke except carbs. And I had to constantly eat because an empty tummy made me nauseous.

I was 65 lbs over where I "should" be (obese) when I had my first baby. I'm pretty short so I haven't gotten into the plus size clothing range yet but I think I definitely would be plus size if I was taller.

I didn't have any conceiving issues, we were very lucky I think we conceived our first month of trying. When I went in for my first appointments, I saw many OBGYNs because my regular OB was on a leave of absence. My regular OB was not coming back so I was assigned another OB at 4 months in. No one ever mentioned to me anything about my weight.

But I actually lost 20 lbs because of my LO. 10 lbs during pregnancy and 10 lbs after giving birth.

My doctor never says anything about my weight. She just says that I should try to walk more.

My last routine appointment (a month ago) I asked about trying for another one (still 45 lbs overweight) and she told me that the best way to do that was to track my period and good luck! Haha. She did not mention anything about losing weight at all.

    -----------------------------------------------

I also wanted to comment about the "wacky" periods. I always had super normal periods, they came like clockwork since I was a teenager.

One time in my life about 4 years ago they got super wacky, they didn't come on time, and when they did come they were shorter or longer than normal. Also for two months in a row it didn't come at all! I knew I wasn't pregnant but it was weird. I made an appointment with my OB to get checked out.

Everything was fine technically - also not pregnant. My OB asked about my life in general and asked if I happened to be stressed out? I thought about it and I just talked about my life, I was juggling full time work, part time masters program, planning a wedding and buying a house. I didn't even know how stressed out I was till that very moment. She told me to relax and I did and my period went back to normal and has been normal since.

Not sure if any of this info is useful to you, but hopefully it helps. Good luck!

@Raindrop: thanks for all information and advise, makes me feel a lot better knowing someone else had gone through the same thing, hopefully the wacky periods are just stress like yours was and nothing serious, i will deff feel much better after i figure out whats going on and good luck on your second child! its a blessing!
