If you had a choice when flying with your almost-two year old, which seating option would you prefer? (LO will be a lap passenger). The flight is almost 3 hours, and the row we are in is 3 seats across.
I feel bad for the stranger in our row, regardless of the positions we sit in, but I'm trying to minimize the drama!

I think any time flying with kids, having access to the aisle is key.

I voted window. Although we always fly aisle because my husband wants it for extra leg room.

If there is someone seated there, the middle person will gladly switch with you for either the aisle or window--no one likes the middle seat!

@BabyTsMom: In your situation - aisle and middle. That way if LO is fussy you can get up and walk up and down the aisle.

We've flown a few times with DD as a lap infant (15 months) and did window/middle. She got comfy leaning against the window to nap or watch shows on the iPad. Looking out the window also kept her entertained during take off and landing.

Window for the stranger, for sure. You may need to get out of your seat even though it's a short flight, and it'll be slightly less annoying for the stranger that way.

I have flown solo with LO several times an window and middle worked well for the distraction of the window. I think it would depend on how wiggly you expect LO to be?

I've flown with DS a few times and I would definitely want the window. Looking out the window is very entertaining for him.

Honestly though, I think it depends on your child's temperament. Will they be entertained by looking out the window? Or are you going to need to be getting up and moving around with them?

Middle and aisle because if you have to get up a few times (diaper changes, walking up and down the aisle, etc) you don't have to ask them to get up. And easier access to overhead bins if needed.

We have flown a number of times (LO is nearly 2) and we like the window/middle as LO likes looking outside and will sometimes nap - which is easier if no one needs to get past him. Usually we will take him for a walk when aisle stranger gets up, but usually they offer to move to let us past. I also like to ask the check-in staff to block the third seat if the flight isn't full. That's the best!

It depends on the route. Where we tend to fly is a huge tourist spot so we don't even bother hoping- the flight is always full. If your lo is very mobile I say aisle. But I tend to pick aisle on my own too.

I prefer window to contain DD. I don't generally want to be in the aisle with her to entertain her. It seems a little weird to Kellys she would take off running!

Definitely book aisle and window. If the middle seat gets booked, you can offer whichever seat works best at the time. Keep window if LO is tired and may nap, keep aisle if feel like LO is going to need to walk around.

So many good arguments for both options! Alas, the flight is full and we didn't really have a choice- we're window and middle.... hopefully LO will take a nap for part of the flight!!! And I still feel sorry for the guy/girl in the aisle seat because LO is definitely wiggly and I can foresee us needing to get up a few times.
