Anyone have a floor lamp that gives off good light? Most things seem to be mood lighting - I need something for the playroom since we have no overhead lighting

We just got the standard boring lamp from walmart: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-72-Combo-Floor-Lamp/12173435
Just make sure to put a bright bulb in it and you'll be good.

I got a bunch of these super basic, cheap floor lamps from Target when we moved and realized we had almost no overhead lighting.

It won’t win any style awards but it does light up the room well. I actually got the style with the reading lamp piece to it but I wouldn’t recommend it because it just kind of sags. But if it’s in a playroom I’d only use these behind some other furniture as my kids could totally pull it over if they tried.

My parents picked up a great lamp from Ikea. It has a giant drum shade and two bulbs inside one for more concentrated light and one that provides more flooded light. I can’t find the link but you might check out ikea!

@Mamaof2: We have a swag light hanging from the ceiling in our playroom. It plugs into the wall, runs up the wall to the ceiling and attaches at two points, one near the wall and one in the middle of the room. It gives off great light and I don't have to worry about the kids knocking over a lamp all the time.

@Mamaof2: @kiddosc: you probably already have a light switch that connects to an outlet in that room too. Based on the small hole in the ceiling I assume that’s what the previous owners of my house did. But our ceilings are pretty low so I felt like anything hanging down would make them feel lower (just something to think about if you have low ceilings too).
