DS1 is allergic to diary, eggs, and peanuts. While pregnant with my second I listened to the allergist's recommendation and took Vitamin D3 in hopes of DS2 being free of food allergies. Earlier this week we had a skin prick test done for DS2 and concluded that he is allergic to dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, and wheat. The good news is that I eliminated those foods (plus soy) about 7 months ago. Honestly I thought I was just being overly cautious and never fully expected him to actually be allergic to all of the above.

While they share three of the same food allergies, DS2's reactions to his allergies is very different from DS1. DS1 will have itchiness and redness around his mouth with the occasional hives when he comes in contact with his food allergies. DS2 broke out in hives from skin contact with nuts (DH forgot to wash his hands after eating a macaron). We unsuccessfully attempted to give him wheat, which resulted in a visit to the ER due to swelling that would not go down on its own. I'm afraid to expose him to dairy or eggs. I thought having 3 years of experience might prepare me for another child with food allergies, but it has been a struggle.

If your first LO has/had food allergies, did your second (+) child also have food allergies? Same or similar allergies? How do you handle children with different allergies?
