Today will be my first day starting Boot Camp!
I know I should eat something light about an hour before I workout but kind of stuck on what.
Any suggestions on what I can/should eat before working out?

I was going to suggest a banana as well :). Someone once told me that you're supposed to eat carbs and fats before working out and protein after.

I do a protein shake about an hour before, or half a banana, or a few bites of real food. If i'm working out in the AM, i'll do one waffle.
If you work out hard, you definitely want a carb immediately after, like a piece of fruit.

It's not "real food", but I like NuGo Organic protein bars - combo of carbs and protein. I'll eventually transition to a banana + peanut butter.

@kokobee: if you get hungry, especially mid-workout, try eating a SMALL (like 100 calories) amount of protein ahead of time, I found that to be important. Carbs (like a banana) will burn off immediately but the protein will sustain you for longer. A combo is good, which is why I suggested the peanut butter on top of the banana. A banana alone would not sustain me through a whole workout

@kokobee: Yay bootcamp!!! I used to eat a little bit of Kashi cereal or some eggwhites before I would workout. I had about an hour between when I ate it and when I started the bootcamp, so it was enough time to give me some energy before I started. My trainer always suggested some fruit so you get the instant energy boost.

I always used to slice up an apple and do natural peanut butter on it for my pre-workout snack.
