This is kinda attached to my sterilizing question. I gave both formula and breastmilk to Mavrick the first 4 months.
That being said, for those 4 months, I would boil water, let it cool and use that to make the formula bottles. At what point can you simply use tap water? Or is that a no-no.
I'm not feeding formula to Sienna (yet?) but just curious.

We use the filtered water from the fridge. We wash and then fill the bottles after she goes to bed, so by morning it's room temp.

Oh gosh, you are going to think I am the biggest slacker. We use regular filtered tap water to make our bottles and we don't heat the water up at all. Our baby is so easy because she'll take any nipple, any temperature of formula, and any formula, though we mostly use Earth's Best.
I guess I'm not winning mom of the year, but it is easier.

@artbee: ya we didn't have filtered water, so that's why I boiled it. At one point I purchased distilled water in a huge bottle... but it's just a waste of money.

@blushink: I think it just depends on how good your tap water is. I've read that as long as you have good tap water, you don't have to worry about boiling it.

@Mrs. Jacks: Well you know what... I'm like you!!! I'm trying to find ways to avoid all this stuff. ha!
Maybe just buying a filter to put on my faucet might do the trick, though it's a little tricky (as in not sure the filter would fit)

@blushink: I think distilled water is not even good for babies because it doesn't have minerals in it.
What about just getting a Brita or Pur filter pitcher for the fridge?

Haha. I guess I am an over-sterlizer. I always boiled the water. I didn't stop until we went to whole milk.

Never boiled water. We don't use filtered water on a regular basis either. We have good quality tap water (results are published annually by our water department).
LO doesn't require a warm bottle, she will take it better than cold. But if she's screaming and impatient, she gets it cold.

We were using filtered water early on, but then I read that sterilized water is better. We're lazy, so rather than boiling, I just buy big jugs of special bottled formula water at the store. I really do think this step is overkill though. As long as you have good tap water and a brita filter, I think you're just fine.

Oh wow! DH turned his nose up at the thought of bottled water she has been getting tap water in her formula!!! Is this bad?

We've never boiled water for DD or DS's bottles; we just use straight tap water, not even a filter! Our water is really good, though; it's basically well water with the minimum amounts of chlorine required by law.

We use nursery water or some off brand of the same thing and we also use our Brita pitcher.

I am just wondering why you would use bottled over tap water? When you compare testing of the 2 bottled water often has far more bacterial colonies than tap. I would think in most instances tap would be safer (as long as isn't well water or the like).

I boiled for as long as I sterilized, so 8 months. Again, it was routine.

We just use tap water and then nuke it for 30 seconds in the microwave. LO prefers her bottles warm.
