DS is almost 4 months and has been supplemented with formula basically since birth. He started on Enfamil Newborm and we switched to Enfamil infant at 3 months. He didn't have any trouble drinking it, but he has been spitting up as much as ever (every feeding, but no fussiness or pain). As he got bigger and drank more formula at each feeding (up to 5 oz. now) he stopped pooping multiple times a day and started having one big, runny blowout every day.
I decided to try Enfamil Gentlease on the suggestion of a friend. LO was only on it for a few days (small can) but i definitely noticed some changes. First off, he didn't seem to like the taste. It was a struggle to get him to drink the first bottle. He also just had a major development growth spurt so he's very distracted during feedings, so he ate much more slowly. He had much less spit-up as a result. We had no blowouts while he was on the Gentlease, instead his poops turned pasty, green, and stinky, but not thicker than peanut butter.
I used up the Gentlease and put him a back on Infant cause I had some left, but he had so much spit-up after his first bottle this AM! I'm not sure if that's because he drinks it faster or because something in it bothers his stomach. He seems very happy to drink it.
Sorry this is rambly - would you go with the one he likes despite the spit ups and blowouts, or does that mean it doesn't agree with him? Would you give him the gentle formula, hoping he gets used to it, or is he at risk for constipation with that? A third option? TIA!
